Slash Leaves Marshall

I'm a longtime Marshall user and I just don't see this as a big deal. I mean if he still had his sig model he was pushing that would be one thing but they haven't made those in years. Besides credit Marshall to a degree, Slash was their first official endorser but it's not like the company has relied on a ton of endorsee's through the years. They've pretty much sold their own by sheer use.

Marshall dropped all of their sig models after Jim died. I doubt Slash still had any association with the company.

Except for Ed, he just kept adding more gain. Like gravy size amounts of gain lol.
Ya you’re right ! But man did you listen to AC/DC At Power Trip ? AC/DC has stripped it down to where angus plays at Malcom’s gain and Stevie plays with almost a 100 percent clean tone . Stevie has almost zero gain . It’s shocking to see them go this far after they had met there be Rock and Powerage tones .

Can't disagree. The Studio series amps have been a big hit, and, let's face it, the JCM 800 still is the holy grail to many, as is the Silver Jubilee. BUT, how long are they going to milk the JVM as their "flagship"? That's the part that is pathetic. When will they come up with something NEW, in the higher gain department?
Ya they do good still . I think they are stuck on JVM because it and the little amps sell to oroloe goid just because of the word Marshall . They need to hire a new guy . Jose is their agsin . He did jvm . Rumor was he’s doing a new modern one . I’m not excited

No one plays their endorsements anyway, I just saw jerry Cantrell played the national anthem somewhere and he’s using a Marshall, like didn’t his sig Friedman come out within the last year??
Yup! He’s often seen with Axe FX, Bogner Goldfinger (even though he’s known for Uber and XTC) Friedman and Marshall.

Not sure if surprises me more Slash still needing money thru endorsement, or slash still being relevant
I think slash is the biggest guitar star : in commercials on talk shows . Hes become the character he’s thought of . He plays the game . He never use to look the same . Now he never breaks with the top hat and shit . It’s kinda weird

Jesus, I can only imagine the total eardrum destruction. Loud clean tones played hard are dangerous.

I've been saying this for awhile. There really is no good excuse. Things went down hill even further when Santiago left. There are so many amp builders now, on both sides of the pond, that are beating Marshall at their own game. And a ton of rock/metal shows these days don't even have a backline like the old days.

Wow, just gave that a listen. That's rough. Sounds like it's time to hang it up. Dang.

If he had more gain it would make it easier to play . You ever solo on a cranked up Super Lead. It’s less gain than most guys use .if they toured he rooks get better as they played more . It’s been awhile . But that clean tone is hard to shred like he did in 70s

Why yes, I owned a Super Lead 100 watt for many years. Not a forgiving amplifier to play at all. I just can't fathom that live sound. They had such KILLER tone at River Plate. Dude's rhythms are almost totally clean. I thought there was some exaggeration, nope. It's like they switched backline to Roland JC-120's.

And with little gain it made angus fumble his fast parts . It was not good .

theres nothing cool about less gain ever. it never sounds as good, no one ever plays as well when they are fighting the notes, its just fucking stupid if you ask me. Angus sounded the best with the smooth and liquidy sounding mark racks he used to have
