Morello has to be up there. whats more recognizable than Bulls on Parade? theres not a corner of the world you cant go "wohw wohw wahohwahoh" and someone isnt gonna go "coolwititnow!!"
He makes me think of effects use . But I don’t think about his tone . It’s crappy . Sounds like tubes are shot . And I love his playing . He has a style but I’ve never thought he has a tone . This made me go listen atm

His tone is uniquely shitty and that’s part of what makes it so recognizable

I can see what you’re saying . But honestly didn’t feel like he had a signature tone . Crazy sounds

I don’t see how it’s not a signature tone, it never really changed, even with Audioslave. You are never gonna be guessing who the guitar player is when he is playing

Kirk Hammet. Every time someone hears him it’s “shiiit, not this fucker again” lol

I guess I don’t hear a tone . I see his style . The way he uses effects and solos I definitely would know . But if he plays riffs with his normal tone I don’t of a tone tone . Like I just listen to the first two albums . I do hear the style for sure

I'll go with the infamous "HM-2 max" tone. You really can hear the characteristic gargling frothing buzzing tone no matter who is applying it, even if it is blended with more conventional tracks.

Back-off the level and highs a lot, and the lows a bit too, and you have a great versatile mid-rich distortion that can be hit with actives or even clean-boosted into. HM-2 responds massively well when being driven into hard, at least it does when you run the controls as such.

Hard to argue with that list. I personally would move a couple of those in order. Maybe even take a couple out and replace with Andy Summers and Kevin Shields if we are solely talking unmistakable tones.
