Not trying to run this through the mud, but it took a month to build (just got it today) and I dont hear one ounce
of difference to the stock Les Paul pots. Web site stated no definition/high end loss even when volumes are rolled back to 1 or two.

Neck pickup is still muddy/muffled.
Swapped the stock pickups for Bare Knuckle Mules matched set.

100 bucks down the drain. :bash:

What did you swap them out for? If it was the same value pots/caps and wired the same way then I wouldn't expect there to be a difference. At least not more than a tiny one. If you want to retain treble when turning down then use 50's wiring (tone wire connected to wiper of volume pot). Are you using 50's wiring?

It was orded as "modern".
I just really though or was under the assumption (the mother of all fuck up words) that this was going to be some great improvement.

So don't bother making up a Treble Bleed cap?
Which lug are you connecting to on the vol/tone pots

one of the best things to do to a Les Paul ... IMO

I didn't give a shit about rolling back on the volume for a long time. Playing EMG Pickups made sure of that. They do cool things, but they don't clean up on the roll. You don't miss what you never knew..

I do all' my guitars in 50's now. I also like a split neck and a series/parallel in the bridge with PP Pots.. I get different colors and an even cleaner rollback. But high gain is all humbucker's in series..

Here's my latest bargain 7-string..

Modern isn't 50s style

just their standard LP setup ..... 50's wiring w/ the Paper in Oil Bumblebee caps ....
Ok cool thank you ? I was looking at one of those kits for my 98 Gibson Les Paul Special P-100 but wonder if it would be beneficial?

I have these in four Les Pauls .... going to be five .... after Xmas

If it’s a modern Les Paul, then you likely swapped in exactly the same. After all, we’re talking about pots and caps. You aren’t going to hear much difference at all with the same values……unless you go to 50’s as others have mentioned.

Color me dumb.
I tried but apparently didn't do my Due Diligence.

Should be able to wire it to 50 spec, correct?

Get the CTS 500 k vintage taper pots. Perfect taper from 10 to 1. Also wire it for 50s style. Just uses a different lug on the volume pot. Bam ur golden …
