When US Conservatives support Russia you know things are a mess.

How can the US right support Russia. Bloody traitors. Certain commentators going over there to suck up to and sympathise with Putin. Now I hate the US left with their insane wokeness but supporting our enemies is treacherous. Now you talk about Assange being a traitor - look at yourselves if you support Russia.

I guess I just hate the whole US now. They are either a bunch of weirdo queers or filthy rightwing commies/autocrat sympathisers - which under normal circumstances is a complete oxymoron but these days - you're all crazy. Undemocratic swill (don't support democracy).

Who is supporting Russia ? For the record, opposing aid to Ukraine is not the same as supporting Russia.
 
Ukraine is only slightly less corrupt. And when the dust settles their comedian cum El Presidente will retire in Canada or something with millions of US taxpayer dollars in his bank account.

When I started posting here the strong MAGA/Russia connection was definitely surprising to me. Wasn’t expecting that.

But to take my own advice, I think a large portion of the US just doesn’t give a shit. Most of us are too wrapped up putting food on the table to care about drag queens and Ukraine. And it’s been that way long before Trump and Biden.

It’s just that the indifferent people don’t make the news.
 
To be fair I think there is a degree of respect and admiration for Putin/Russia among conservatives. He's a strong man, a traditionalist and very intelligent. He is outmaneuvering the neocons and NATO. Russia is a traditional culture that thinks wokism is a joke. Regardless, one doesn't need to appreciate him or Russia to recognize sending money to Ukraine is stupid on numerous levels and the US shouldn't do it.
 
Russia is a corrupt shithole. Just because people don't want to funnel money into another corrupt shithole doesn't mean they are supportive of the adversarial corrupt shithole.
Dems have tied the funding of this stupid war to giving 20 million illegals voting power. That's why there are repubs that don't want the bill to go through. Duh.

Yeah. Probably not by much at this point, and the scope of corruption is larger in the US in total dollars (by far), but the sort of caustic societal rot is a bit deeper in the surface level of societal corruption. It's probably a bit more in your face for everyday life there than it is here IE cops shaking you down for money.
 
There’s a difference between supporting someone and listening to their point of view to try and understand their motivation. Skepticism and critical thinking are in short supply these days.

All democracies are important and shouldn't get over-run by autocratic empire building or at the very least if you are going to stay neutral you don't support the autocracy trampling it's smaller neighbours. That's like the pre WW2 policy of appeasement.
