That sounds fantastic - great work! I’d be interested in one of those if that mod goes on general release for sure….
Yes, I definitely hope to do that. I'm playing catch up right now with amps but that's the plan.Wow...From that short clip, I'm very impressed. Are you going to actively offer Mesa Recto mods?
Haha, no. My original plan was just Marshalls only. But a couple strays have made their way on to the bench. I really like this recto mod. Lots of clarity and articulation with killer feel. Makes you want to play more, if you know what I mean (I know you do!).You modding everything?
Never got into those amps. Had a couple of them back in the day but nothing recent.Have you ever modded or cracked open a JCM 2000 DSL? I may want you to mod mine for a nice modded plexi on the green channel and a hot rodded 800 for the red channel.
That's a great question...!Sounds great ?
What made you want to take on a recto? I have to say it sounds very unique. I hear a cross between Mesa mark and recto like it’s an earlier version recto of some type.
So far I've done 4 with one more sitting on my shelf ready to get done. These are all for local guys, sort of the trial run. I do plan on doing more once I can catch up with other commitments. I really enjoy the sound and response of this circuit and would love to offer it publicly.Wow! This sounds great! Gonna do more than only one?
Glad you love it man! I also was digging your clip you posted on FB. Definitely showcases the heavier side of the circuit.Man Jeremy i love this thing, its sending my Rev F Hermanssons packing!!!!
Thanks, hopefully soon! That sounds fantastic - great work! I’d be interested in one of those if that mod goes on general release for sure….
I can see scoring a Rev G for this. Edited to ask if it would also work on a 3 channel Triple Rec?Yes, I definitely hope to do that. I'm playing catch up right now with amps but that's the plan.

I bought a Rev G from a buddy of mine recently with the intent of "slightly" tweaking it and seeing f I could get along with it. I've had a couple Rev F's and a multi watt in the past. Didn't really like any of those. However, you know how out goes and many weeks later I was still tweaking the thing. The circuit was much more of a challenge than I expected. Inter-stage signal control needs to be very precise to get the right sound. Easy to have too much signal, or lack of saturation going the other way. Also, getting the taper of the gain control right is very difficult. So that there is a usable range of gain, without losing definition when turned to 10. As you know, a stock recto goes to mush after 6 or so on the audio taper gain pot. Right when the signal really starts kicking in.
Another thing that took a long time was keeping that recto core signature tone. I really wanted to retain that. Some mods just remove to completely.

can your mod be done on other recto models or just the 2 ch's?Another thing that took a long time was keeping that recto core signature tone. I really wanted to retain that. Some mods just remove to completely.
I’m fairly positive it’ll have the same result on a 3 channel. I just haven’t had the time to test on one. The R&D process for this one alone was at least 50 hours. So it’s hard to squeeze them in between builds etc…can your mod be done on other recto models or just the 2 ch's?
I don’t get it either. Used to be able to swing a dead cat and hit one. I swear there’s amp buyers who are only about the investment and when they see prices rising they buy a lot of the amps and just hold on to them waiting for a perceived peak. This kind of happened with 5150’s as well. Used to see them all the time for 4-600 and once the prices started going up you would see a lot less of them around.I’m fairly positive it’ll have the same result on a 3 channel. I just happened to pick up a Rev G that my buddy was selling. So that’s the first version to get developed.
It’s surprising that Rev G’s are getting harder to find. They made 1,000’s and 1,000’s of them. I remember a few years ago they were $900 all day long.
I have a feeling it’ll work similarly on a 3 channel. I just happened to have a 2 channel handy so that was the first one to get developed. I plan on doing some R&D on a 3 channel when I get the time.I can see scoring a Rev G for this. Edited to ask if it would also work on a 3 channel Triple Rec?
I'm curious what your thoughts would be on modding an SLO for a similar sound. I know that the Recto is based on the SLO, but also sounds quite different. Would they even be in the same realm?
@RedPlated
Sounds amazing Jeremy!! Great work as usual.
Does this change the orange channel at all? I tend to live there on Rectos.
Here’s an SM57 on an V30, into my iPad. Another one I just wrapped up yesterday.
Bright switch was off. It’ll get more saturated with it on. I actually like the sound and feel with it off the most.
