I have my weapons permit, we have Constitutional carry and stand your ground.

on a dead end street, on my little island; only 5 single-family houses on my street, and 9 condos at the dead-end on the salt marsh; most around me are quiet, senior citizens, and a couple of short-term vacation rentals, the vacationing renters aren't usually an issue, and I do my best to avoid them or talking to them.

still it's a tourist destination, we only have one road on/off the island, it's two lane and no passing zones, so avoiding the heavy traffic is key for me.

still shopping for my oceangoing sailboat before I retire early... I know as soon as I buy a sailboat, the boat I've been searching to buy for years will show up on the market...

I had a Banshee. Miss that damn thing. I'm a 3 wheeler guy though. I've had 3 ATC 250R's
The last one I put thousands into and it was like off the showroom floor condition. Unfortunately in the communist state of MA, anything fun is illegal, so I gave up twisting the throttle. I still have dreams about riding.
Same except I won't live in a kill joy state. I had a nice Blaster with the American Racing A arms, Banshee wide rear axle, flat slide mikuni, +2 swingarm, custom intake manifold, CT racing pipe and seat, advance key, custom bumper and foot guards, rims and tires, skid plates, etc....everything but the bore kit and expensive shocks but I had the hotter crank in a box waiting. Powdercoated orange with yellow plastics. She topped out at maybe 55 or 60 but got there as fast as I could shift. I liked it cause it was fast but not quite fast enough for me to get into big trouble on it like I would I would a Banshee where I would be killed. And it was lightweight and the brakes really did work well on that bike. Perfect for blasting down brick streets and sandy hills with the wider stance. Really stable and easy to throw around. Out here in TX it's so rocky I would just high center everywhere and bust up my skid plate and sprocket guards so I sold it before I moved out here.

For a while they were cheap, now they border on collectible. Me and a couple other dudes bought four bikes for 2k in like 2013. Two were completes, one was a project machine that needed plastics and a few other parts, and the other was just a rolling frame. Someone poured a lot of cash into the bike I bought but it wasn't running so my buddy opted for a stock machine. I had my bike running as soon as I set the carb and adjusted the throttle cable lol.

Never rode a blaster. They always seemed too short for someone tall like me, so never tried one. But I see how they would be fun 200cc 2 stroke can go pretty good, especially since that's a light weight quad. Miss wrenching on that shit. Upgrades were 1/2 the fun. First quad was a Yamaha Moto 4 rigid ride. My kidneys still hurt from riding that thing. I would think that Tejas would be sandy, not rocky. But I guess that depends where you're at in Tejas.

The hill country is limestone outcroppings and stones, rocks everywhere and I am in the rockiest area of the hill country. A stock Blaster would've had better ground clearance, I pretty much had a dune runner type bike. Would've been great for my Terlingua property but 12 hours is a bit of a haul just to ride a four wheeler haha. I like wrenching on that stuff too. I have an 05 Sportster I'm piecing together right now. Upgrades are fun and bikes and 4 wheelers are more fun than a car to wrench on because everything is easy to get to. I like finding deals because someone parked a bike too long and now it has old fuel and won't start. Finding easily fixed bikes and flipping for some cash is what I think I need to start doing...either that or custom airbrushing or something for a side gig. Or both...

Why would you ask for/acquire government permission to carry a weapon in a free state ?

Probably reciprocity…or he had it before they went full constitutional carry.
I know guys that keep them for reciprocity. And in some states you can bypass NICS checks if you have a permit. I let mine expire years ago.

because the government giveth and the government can taketh; anytime they want.

If I let my weapons permit lapse it could get more difficult to obtain in the future, i.e., renewals are easier than new permits; having it also means I don't have a waiting period - I can walk into a shop and purchase a weapon and take it with me.

plenty of examples of existing 2A infringements.

I'm still hoping to see FOPA and NFA repealed in my lifetime, and I ain't getting any younger.

Makes sense.

Waiting period ? We don’t have that here. Anyone who isn’t a prohibited person can walk in and buy a gun and leave with it. As long as you pass the NICS check. Which usually takes about 10 minutes. I know some states you don’t have to do the NICS check if you have a permit.

In my state I see no reason to petition the government for permission and then pay them to exercise my constitutional rights.

unfortunately states and local governments continue to infringe our Constitutional rights; and not enough people care about them, or want even more government tyranny when it comes to 2A, and now 1A and 4A...

I expect it to continue to get worse not better in the short term.

Enjoy the decline.
