i'd like to see public schools in TX close. The state rapes me at tax time and a huge portion of that money is directed towards public schools and is spent completely wastefully. Top level pro band instruments for students. I'm talking 5k horns. An 18 wheeler and driver for the marching band gear and expensive uniforms. Stadiums for dumbass football. Public education is a failure. A complete failure. Institutions of misery. Time to find another way.

My wife is a STEM director here in TX. She can't get equipment to teach science/technology properly, but her district is building a brand new multi million dollar stadium as we speak. Red states don't want to educate, just distract and indoctrinate with their Christian bullshit.

Probably can't get funding because teachers make 100k+ year for 8 months work and admins make double that for even less work.
What equipment does she need that she lacks?

$100k a year?!?! ??? teachers make nowhere close to that! Plus they work constantly throughout the summer preparing for the next school year. You obviously know nothing about education.

Football is more important in Texas than anything else tied to the education system. I don't know any public schools that indoctrinate with "Christian bullshit" as you call it. My son went to middle and high school in Hays county and that high school is plastered with rainbow flags and other lefty propaganda decor and is all about indoctrination into that pride bullshit, not anything even remotely resembling "christian". You must live out in BF Egypt or something.

Maybe not where you live. They start in the 80s here and admin staff is up around 180-ish. I agree with most of the rest of what you said except if you think blue states are better you’re on some serious drugs. And none of them are indoctrinating kids to be Christian.

I think teaching pays a lot less in the deep south. If you want to make real money down here in the education system you become a football coach.

I recently started watching Football documentaries on Netflex, that's how boring TV has become. I'm almost done with TV. As far as watching a live game? Not a chance. 10 minutes of football and 1.5 hours of commercials. I don't know how mindless idiots put themselves through that misery. I do like watching it, but the whole mentality behind it is absurd.

I think schools should ditch everything but Math, English and Science and teach kids real world skills. Like how to tighten a fucking bolt. I make my kid fix shit all the time. I tell him, you can either stare at it and hope that you transfer to a parallel universe where it's already assembled, or start at it, till it self assembles.

What's this got to do with football? No idea.

I'd rather dig ditches than watch TV. At least when I'm done I have three things; a ditch, extra dirt, and a feeling of accomplishment and time well spent.

I used basic alphabet and math flash cards with my son when he was young. He was reading at high school level in 4th grade, which basically tells me that most high schoolers are reading at the 4th grade level. More time well spent in a classroom.

Do you know that teachers salaries are publicly available?
They are easily viewable at www.openthebooks.com

If you look at the maps of public salary in excess of 100k a year the most common job listing is in education.
Average starting salary in Austin Tx for example is $64k a year, retiring teachers are regularly pulling in close to $100k

https://www.openthebooks.com/cbs-au...cts-100000-club--236-employees-who-made-100k/

I know a couple of teachers and some people that worked in admin. Secretary that retired making $98k a year. A secretary. The whole 'working in summer' making lesson plans is a bunch of whining.

Month off for holidays, 3 months in summer, conservatively I'd give a month in there of bullshit dilly dalying pointless meetings and planning BS...
So 64k a year for 9 months of work+amazing pension and benefits and retirement at 55.
Public education is one of the biggest scams going along with healthcare, law enforcement and military spending.

My dad made close to 80k teaching high school, left at 2pm everyday and went and did carpentry till 10pm. I don't recall him doing much prep all Summer. For like 40 years. Now he gets like 5k a month pension also. I doubt it's still like that though. If I were teachers, I'd gang up and fucking quit. I'll bet the superintendent makes bucco bucko though for attending meetings and doing nothing all day. Dealing with students is brutal, especially when you have students that don't want to be there. Luckily my dad taught mostly AP classes with the occasional humptoe classes as he calls them.

If he had a disruptive student he would tell them, "hey, you don't have to be here you know?" and they'd be like "really?" He'd reply with "look, I'll even open the door for you."

And off they went, LOL.

Your pops was a wise man. The best teachers I ever had basically had the same attitude. They would just tell me to leave the class instead of running me down to the office, getting me suspended (which was what I wanted anyways). Those types of teachers are few and far between. Most of them are completely inept when it comes to dealing with kids who really just don't want to be there. Strangely those classes were where I generally did better because the teacher wasn't an idiot or a prick, just chill.

Both Oklahoma and Louisiana passed laws requiring the ten commandments to be displayed in every classroom. It will get overturned, but there's your indoctrination right there.
