Do you take a statin for reduction of Cholesterol?

I'd say they are more dangerous than an COVID vaccine but then again I lowered my cholesterol by losing weight and exercising.

You dont have to be "overweight" to have high cholesterol.
If you smoke yer cholesterol will be way higher than normal.
Hypertension will kill you faster.
Statins make you lose yer hair.

So if Big Pharma will lie about actual clinical trials, pay off regulators, doctors and scientists to push a cholesterol drug that actual had no proven benefit for profiteering purposes... what else might they be capable of?

Here's some interesting reading.........

One-Third Of New Drugs Had Safety Problems After FDA Approval

It's been common knowledge for 10+ years that statin dangers far outweigh the benefits. Way to keep up. ?

Uncommonly, my doc never mentioned these dangers but did renew my prescription. :p
I’ve only recently been aware that a selection of statins do the same job but with drastic differences in side effects from one to the other. My doc’s first choice (atorvastatin) had me waking up several times a night with leg muscle spasms, losing sleep and trying to walk it off. I had to argue vehemently to get him to change it (Rosuvastatin).
As mentioned in another thread, he just checks his charts on his laptop to see what HE was recommended and writes the script. Beyond that requires more of his time and they don’t like that.

They will argue that the side effects of statins are better than a heart attack which might kill you on the spot. My solution was to do everything in my power to lower my cholesterol naturally but that meant essentially retiring and getting very fit. My cholesterol is still on the high side but not extreme like it used to be.

Find a new doctor.

They're discovering all kinds of things lately about cholesterol, that it has a protective effect and that higher levels are linked to lower mortality. I even saw an article recently about the 'bad' cholesterol not being bad. All that being said, look into high dose niacin (Vit B3) therapies. It was the gold standard until pharma took over.

I consider myself active but it has to go to a much higher level to be rid of the drugs. Congrats on your efforts!

Find a new doctor.
It’s been on my mind for some time but not an easy task in my area; “sorry, the doctor isn’t taking any new patients at this time”.
I may have to widen my circle from home to find a good one.

I can see being prescribed statins if you eat lots of fast food, seed oils and also lots of cakes and sugars.

But in that case, why not eat better and avoid the controversy altogether?

I am more a naturepath kind of person, I don't trust regular doctors at all.

You and my wife would hit it off; she is very well-versed in natural health, drives her doctors crazy. Her collection of supplements is staggering but for someone permanently in a wheelchair-power scooter, she’s doing pretty well. I need to listen to her more, she has really done the research.

You have been lied to! You do not want to lower your ldl, cholesterol is a repair molecule needed for every function of every cell in your body. High ldl is actually good for your heart health. The only bad cholesterol is oxidized ldl. The test for this is called vldl, which stands for very low density lipoprotein, and despite what the doc tells you should be between 15 to 20 mg/dl.

^^^ this guy knows what he's talking about.
Most of the issues in this country stem from metabolic dysfunction, which is mainly mitochondria issues in the cell.

Stay off sugar and bread and glutens and pastas and you'll be good. Eat organic whenever possible

Way way way too much focus on cholesterol and not enough focus on cell damage in this country. If your cells are functioning properly you have more energy and increased ability to produce and maintain healthy cells.

Here's a bunch of tips these fucking RETARD (Guessers) Doctors are not taught in medical school. They go to medical school and the training is basically designed by big pharma to produce nothing but pill pushers. They're all in bed with each other. FDA, Big Pharma, HMO's and Big food. Don't be an idiot. Do your own research and be a scientist in your own life. Come to terms with the fact that these sharks do not have your best interest at heart and know NOTHING about total body health and the fact that bodily systems are all INTERCONNECTED.

Eat foods that induce mitophagy - cruciferous vegetables and berries

Increase mitochondrial enzymatic function - micronutrients like iron, copper, B-vitamins, and zinc, which serve as cofactors for mitochondrial enzymes

Lower oxidative stress - environmental factors, water you drink, pesticides, air quality, chemical exposure

Decrease mitochondrial DNA mutations - Antioxidant-rich diets, supplemented with vitamin C, E, Zinc and selenium (Brazil nuts - don't OD on them though.)

Increase epigenetic control of the mitochondrial process - Again, cruciferous vegetables, stress reduction, mindfulness meditation

Enhance mitochondrial biogenesis - omega-3 fatty acids, intermittent fasting, endurance exercise

Increase glucose disposal - resistance training.

Sleep - adequate quality sleep 6-8 hours a night.

This sounds like better advise that most will find in a doctors office.

What is your thoughts about "ancient grains" as they are called now like Einkorn and Spelt? Are just all carbs bad for you?

I don’t think so, depending on your metabolism. Mine is pretty fast even though I’m middle aged, so a low carb diet doesn’t jive. It can put your body into ketosis which is hard on it long term. One would probably do well to prefer vegetables over grains, and avoid refined grains altogether though. Probably the ancient grains are better then modern dwarf wheat as well.

I would think that if your glucose level is good, the carbs would give you some energy, right?
