Trying to avoid back surgery. Couple slipped discs.
That sucks dude. You can always transport, mix and pour with a wheelbarrow. Personally I think digging the post holes is the bigger chore than slopping in some concrete

No, he actually has communication skills and explains his opinions when stating them.

Hence he and I can disagree yet not bicker. Funny how that works
and yet even he sees the same thing we do..
Yep.. Funny how that works ?

Trying to avoid back surgery. Got a couple slipped discs.
If you have a back problem here’s how I’d do it-
You put the post in, fill the hole half full of water, get a big scoop and scoop concrete into the hole while making sure it’s level with your handy dandy post level, take a rod and shove it around the post into the concrete to mix it. Then add a bit more water to the top.
Your not trying to wrestle that bag of concrete or a wheelbarrow and making way less mess

Good suggestion, thanks.

I think I’d still rather pull old ones out than dig new holes though. It’s rocky as fuck where I live.

Wow we got off topic again. It's exhausting reading some of these.

For that I prefer when people use the foam
I thought you said the forum :D

How about removing old posts ? ?‍♂️
I read that as you wanted Aynirar27 to remove some old posts. Here at Rig-Talk.

Hell, he's got almost 140 posts just today so plenty of room to practice. But seriously, I wish I had this much free time. :(

Dig out around them as much as you can then wrap a big chain around it. Take a sheepherders jack ( or an old bumper jack might work) and wrap the chain around the foot and start jacking. Works pretty well.

I also don’t trust the old wet the concrete in the hole trick. I know some guys say it’s fine but I didn’t spend all that time and energy sinking a post to have to fuck with it again later. You can buy 60lb bags of concrete if lugging the 80s hurts your back. And you can mix one bag at a time in a wheelbarrow if two is too much on your back. Mix it a little wet so the concrete don’t blow up while you’re mixing the next bag. I got slipped discs and bad knees and I hand mixed 90 bags for the piers under my shop in a weekend no sweat 5 years ago. A few weeks ago I mixed about 30 for my deck piers ( these are all 80 lb bags) and I ain’t gonna lie, it sucked. I’m almost 56 though and been in construction since I was 16 so my back and knees are sketchy. If you take it slow and do one bag at a time you’ll be fine dude. I’d do it the right way if I was you though. Just my opinion.

I like to post while I do other things to keep my mind busy, but the last week or so my schedule has been really messed up. Im looking forward to only being able to post 100 times a day again

You should let that narcistic part of your personality die off. :dunno:

Not the 100 post part of the comment. The entire comment. It is very Donnie B. like.

All I meant was I look forward to getting back in my normal schedule

Or that I like to post when I’m doing other things?

Thanks for the suggestions brother. I’ve never used those jacks before. I guess they are known as “hi-lift jacks” these days. Look very handy.

90 bags in a weekend? You must be pretty decent shape even with shot knees and back! But be honest — how’d you feel waking up Monday ?

Let it go.

You're not going to suck me into your circular logic. Good night ladies.

lol what is with you people?

I could think of all kinds of narcissistic things I’ve said and done but cannot even fathom what about that post would make someone think that lol

So weird

I thought he was messing with you, which I also thought was hilarious ?‍♂️

I have noticed that your 1A, 2A, 8F, 13C, 16M and 39L constipational rights are under attack.

I recommend All-Bran and don't eat fried food.
not as bad as the UK, yet. hopefully the indigenous peoples of the British isles save their country from the first successful invasion since 1066; soon, while they still can.

That was 5 years ago and I don’t recall it being particularly brutal. The 30 bags for my deck piers last month kicked my ass. Getting older sucks.

Those jacks are what you commonly see strapped to the back of “ jeeps”. Mostly for looks I suspect. I’ve had one for decades. I used it when I had to rip up a floor and dig 14 piers, in between floor joists, and set an 80’ long beam ( I had to tear off siding on the side of the house to slide the beam in and build it in 4 pieces) under the addition in my first house because the morons who built the house didn’t pour a foundation or a short wall ( footer) for the back wall. I used the jack to lift floor joists while I set the beam on the piers. I’ve used it for a million things since then.
