Finally got those Celestion G12h 75 Creambacks out of my life NCD

I have hated the PRS 4x12 loaded with those speakers almost since I got it. I could not bond with those speakers.
I finally got the matching Suhr 2x12 Deep cab with V-30’s, to go with the Suhr SL67.
Cab sounds great.
Cool thing is I got a Wet/ Dry setup if I want it. I took the line-out of the main Power Station, go thru a few effects, then into the 2nd Power Station's line-in, that's driving the 2 Friedman cabs (G12-m 65 Creambacks). Sounds pretty massive.

So was the previous cab shallower I assume? I've made a couple cabs in the past and found the old bluesbreaker "narrow panel" depth at about 10.5" to be pretty good so I had to ask out of interest for the future.

Cab is sharp, surprised at the v30s though. Have you tried something greenback-y? I really like scumback m75s and bm75s with my sl67.

The PRS 4x12 was 14". It was made of Poplar. I wanted to get away from a 4x12, and like I said, those G12-H 75 Creambacks did not work for me.

Understood. I have to wonder what kind of role the poplar played in that arrangement. No offense intended, but I have always considered that to be a kind of a shit wood though I have no experience with it as a cab material. I have the feeling it's cheaper to go solid poplar than it is a quality birch ply but I could be totally wrong. I just generally go with known quantities when building stuff e.g the bluesbreaker cab depth.

They say the old Marshall heads weren't good thru V-30's, but they worked for Robin Trower for a huge part of his career. Plus, I'm going out to the Friedman's, that have the 65 Creambacks. Sort of like a Greenback.

IMO, it IS a shit wood, and while those 75 Creambacks may work for some, I hated them. I couldn't get that stringy Strat tone thru distortion, instead, it was bloated mids, too much bass.

Ahh, cool. The Suhr cabs are very nice, I had a used one pop up in my local GC that I stupidly didn’t buy.

I’ve been running my sl67 through a slant 2061 style cab…it’s like a 3/4 sized half stack lol.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who just did not connect with the H75 Creamback. And despite the mixed reviews, I really like the M65 Cream. They do require a decent amount of medium to high volume use to get them properly broken in. But once they are adequately 'softened up' I really do hear that woody, vocal midrange from the OG greenback in the M65. I have a Creamback M65 paired with Marshall branded V-30 in a Thiele ported horizonal 2x12 and it is hands down one of the best sounding cabs I have ever played through.

Ripped the stock GB's out of a Randall Nuno 412 and installed a quad of H75 CB's. That was one of the worst experiments I ever did LOL

Rather than give up on them, I swapped out 2 of them and mixed them with the M65 CB and then finally UK V30's. The H75 I feel is a fantastic speaker to mix with but on its own as a pair or quad, I can't stand them.
