Yep... decade boxes are great tools for getting a hands-on understanding of how different parts of an amp actually affect the sound coming out of the speaker.

I think it’s a good representation but wrong conclusions. To me the ‘more mids’ of the 4n7 bright cap is where it’s at. The difference between 2200 and 4700 when volume up is a perfect illustration of the power of the 4700pF cap.

And the part about rendering it useless… IT WAS NEVER DESIGNED TO RUN WITH VOLUME ON 2! Which should be obvious because of that very bright cap. It’s not like Marshall doesn’t know what bright caps do. First year shade tree hacks know what bright caps do. Marshall carefully chose that bright cap. The amp was designed to be run in its sweet spot, which could be from 6 to 10 depending on how much heat you wanted.

All my NMV Marshalls have the 5000pf bright caps.........luv em.............:2thumbsup:

It's still a decent video and his amp repair channel is quite good without having a pretentious attitude and he explains things well.

Yeah it does illustrate the difference pretty well I just think he puts it into the wrong context. He should explain the glaring question/paradox; why the fuck would Marshall put a cap in their flagship amp at the time that rendered it useless at low volumes? Because stadiums and shitty 4/8-channel PAs. It was never designed for low volumes. You want to practice? Get a Princeton and a Fuzzface.

I also think he's a pretentious douche who has fucked people over...waiting for their amp while he makes more videos...so there is that.
