I saw where Sweetwater dropped the price on the Dellinger II model. I have seen these discounted before. Are these worth $2200 (Caparison pickups and nickel frets)? Or is money better spent somewhere else for a 24-fret bolt-on? Jackson American series?

I like the look, dig the clock inlays, and don't mind the headstock shape :)

They're discontinued so getting blown out I guess, decent price for them if you think you might like the shape of the prominence body which is kind of in between a flat top and carved top.

I used to really like Caparison guitars. I've had a ton over the years, but several repeat things made me sell them and keeps me away from buying one again. The necks on some of them are thick compared to other "shredder" style guitars, my older Horus' were better, but the newer ones were thick. The pickups in them almost always need to be replaced.. And the biggest killer for me was the neck angle. They're built like Les Pauls, so if you get a Floyd model, the Floyd will never sit flush or sink into the body. The floyd will sit like 6-9mm above the body like a tune-o-matic. Absolutely diabolical.

I've only had one, the neck was definitely thick compared to a lot of the shredders like you said but idk man I have to say it was one of the most comfortable and easy playing necks I've ever felt in my life.

The guitar was the Dellinger 7 ax-fm I believe and it was a Hardtail so I can't really speak on their Floyd angles but the stock pickups sounded incredible too.

I guess different strokes although I would really like to try the older Horus that you mentioned and I'd probably like that neck better but I would have to disagree with the pickups take.

In any case, to the OP there was a thread a couple of weeks back about a member going through a shop in Japan for a Caparison and paid something silly like $1,300 which is normal if you go that route. Save yourself a grand and buy from Japan.

thanks for the heads up. Actually, looking directly to Japan for savings on many brands might be a good idea
