I'm kinda really digging the Suhr SSH+ a lot. I have it in both my Les Pauls. I ended up liking it better than the Aldrich. Now, I'm wondering what I should pair them with.

I would think the natural companion to the SSH+ would be the SSV-Neck, right? How is it?

How about the Thornbucker-Neck? Any thoughts on that one? Or the Woodbucker?

Or seeing that I prefer smoother neck pickups, maybe the DSV would be the best option?

How would they compare to the Duncan '59? I'd love some comparisons with that as a point of reference, please. FWIW, I like the Duncan '59 paired with the JB, and that makes me think it could work with the SSH+ as well. The Duncan '59 is also a bit cheaper, so that's a plus. But even if I like the Duncan '59, and I'm sure I can get something usable out of it, I still don't really love it either. If it were me, I'd prefer if the EQ was a bit less extreme in the lows and highs. But honestly, I could very well settle with it if the Suhr offerings aren't really an improvement over it.

What are you guys' experiences with them?

Thanks

Thornbucker on the neck position of my aura was awesome, terrific match for mahogany guitars especially.

Thank you. Any idea how it compares to something a bit more common like the '59?

Is the Thornbucker as bright or brighter with the mismatched coils? I would prefer a bit smoother, TBH.

I enjoyed the DSV more than the SSV or Thornbucker. Just seemed a bit more toneful.

Sorry bud, I’m probably the worst person to try and even attempt to answer that question because I genuinely don’t tinker much 😕

I found the thornbucker in the neck to be super smooth and just like what I’d think of as the ultimate creamy blues tone

Believe it or not, after years of playing, I just got my first guitar with a ‘59 in the neck and with a few twists of eq controls it’s pretty much in the same ballpark for my ears/needs anyway

I’m sure some other folks will have more detailed thoughts here that will be vastly more helpful

Gun to head, I’d say thornbucker 🤷‍♂️
