As part of a new $1 billion plan to address bird flu in poultry and lower egg prices across the country, US secretary of agriculture Brooke Rollins announced Wednesday that the Department of Agriculture is considering vaccinating chickens against highly pathogenic avian influenza.

The US has dealt with flare-ups of bird flu in the past, but the current outbreak has been raging since 2022. The virus has been detected in wild birds in every state, which go on to expose commercial poultry and other animals. At least 166 million birds and 973 dairy herds have been affected in the current US outbreak. Infected animals have led to 70 cases of bird flu in people, including one death.

It's fake news. There is no bird flu. More fakery using bunk tests I bet. I'm sure the vaccine and resulting fallout will extinguish a portion of the food supply. Big Pharma needs new outlets for profit.

I would like to say you're spouting conspiracy theory nonsense, but given the last years a statement like this is not as easy to dismiss.

Why is the US the only country dealing with this in a way where it is drastically effecting food supply? Why has Canada not been affected?

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

“We know that they are lying, they know that they are lying, they even know that we know they are lying, we also know that they know we know they are lying too, they of course know that we certainly know they know we know they are lying too as well, but they are still lying. In our country, the lie has become not just moral category, but the pillar industry of this country.”

It hasn't affected supply drastically here yet, but egg prices have tripled already.

Over 10% of the chicken stock euthanised so far...

Not sure how widespread it actually is in the industry, but I CAN say with my own eyes I have seen a huge number of wild geese & ducks mysteriously dead this year, with no obvious signs of trauma/injury. So I assume it is some pathogen.
I'm a bit out in the sticks (for this state anyway), and we've had a few local flocks taken out by some type of illness.

I'm thinking it's a legit issue, but how they handle it will be a screw-up, as usual when the feds get involved.

As a meat cutter we automatically assume poultry is positive for salmonella because most of it is.
Thats why you want the people cooking your food to know what they're doing.
They found a wild dead duck here at the local Zoo that tested positive for bird flu.
Many rare and endangered species are at risk and potentially people too.

Thats why you don't want this asshole in charge.
If you haven't gotten your end of life affairs in order now would be a good time.
