What would you say this is worth?

Being that I bought a killer Suhr bass recently with a roasted maple neck in like new condition for close to this price, I'm probably biased.

By the time you buy pickups, electronics, etc...

Why don't they just fix it up and sell it? They have a massive workshop, could get done in an hour. Probably a kickass bass though, I'd pay $750 and test the truss rod first.

The cheapest complete one on reverb is $2300, so it seems like you got more a great deal than this one is bad

Last year I bought two from GC within a week of each other (and returned one cause I got a better deal).

Everything is negotiable at GC once it sits a bit.

Used market has tanked, some people just don't want to sell for what the market can bear, in my opinion reverb is where to go to pay the highest dollar.
