Run. The consensus seems to be it was voiced for meshuggah, which is fine if you play super low or 8 string. If you play standard, or more normal drop tunings, it will be super bright

But aside from the voicing, it was a fairly simple jose mod that was not unique, and not particularly amazing.

I love that it is a single channel. But the magic of the single channel can only be had when that channel is good.

I played both the Cali and the Meshuggah at Guitar Summit a few years ago. I liked the Cali better. More Metal and tighter. The Meshuggah was pretty loose and sludgy. I have the same "issue" at the Moment, but with a Cali, which is for sale around 180 Miles way from me. But the seller responds incredibly slow and i'm too lazy to drive...and also the Hermansson Dual Rectifier popped up for sale again. But that's another Story...

I really like the Meshuggah.

It's a single channel amp that can be sculpted into what you want depending on the signal you feed the front end.

It can do 80s rock to Meshuggah if needed. And IMO impressively well.

It is a bit dry at times.

I know @braintheory didn't like the one he played.

I’ll put it like this- if you want meshuggah tones, Hermansson is the way to go, and if you just want a more modern Jose, there are plenty of options that aren’t 5k. If you are a collector, I see the appeal. Someone I know who had multiple told me they only liked them boosted.

If you want something that sounds more like a normal amp than recto Hermansson, the Marshall Hermansson and wizard hell razor kill for those sounds. If the meshuggah was 4k or lower I’d say it could be worth it, but I still think there’s better amps out there

Yeah the Meshuggah I played just sounded like another 50w Jose type amp, but not as good as so many others out there, especially in its price range. Really nothing special and despite being Meshuggah branded it was not super tight, djenty, clanky or anything like that

I agree with most of the above. If you're interested for the collector value of having one, go for it. If you want it for the actual circuit/sound, there are other options. Here's one I built. Very similar circuit. Except this one has a depth control and a 6-way clipping switch. Custom iron from Merren. This is NOT a Ceriatone kit. I simply used a Ceriatone chassis.

The Meshuggah has no depth control and is MUCH brighter/thinner, unless you use a boost and down-tune or use an 8 string. That's why it's voiced so bright.

I can build another one, as I still have a custom set of 50W transformers. Just need a chassis and turret board.

I recently played one with a regular 6 string tuned to E standard... And Like many of guys said, it lacked body and low end, It's an amp designed for extended range so do not expect something else out of it.

A couple easy tweaks can address this though. But I doubt people want to modify such a pricey "collectors" amp.

Add a depth control—either adjustable or hardwired (so no holes need to be drilled).
Tweak the NFB resistor value.
