I had the pleasure of owning this amp for about a week. I really think I jumped the gun on the return because I've been too eager to try a VHX or a Herbert. After messing with it for a night and the next morning, I put in the return request. I had another 4 days before the request went through and was sent the shipping label, and in that time I really learned the ways of the Big Max. It sounded the best with my EQD Dunes for the ultra heavies. It really does respond much like a 2204 type of circuit, except for that meaty harmonically saturated thing that Diezels do when you goose them with a good boost. Cleans were incredible when rolled back on the neck pickup of my baritone tele. I just put the order in for a VHX because the feature set just looks so perfect for home recording (and occasional live playing). If that doesn't work out I'll probably move on to the Herbert. Even if I keep one of those, I can easily see owning another Big Max in the future. They're just fun. Stripped down, bare bones, solid tone.

Vhx is badass. I will be honest, the only ones I’m interested in are the vh4(had one), vhx, and the Herbert.

It certainly looks like The One judging by the feature set and very limited demos I've seen out there.
