Exactly. To have a viable country, China needs to buy fossil fuels from Russia & pay in U.S. $s. Putin/Russia doesn't want to be paid in Russian ruble or Chinese yuan because Russia also needs to buy stuff from around the world with the seller wanting to be paid in $s.
