If you already have a passport, you don't need it. But if you don't have a passport, your driver license will make it difficult to fly. Word is, you can still fly without it, but it will take longer for you to get through security. Will we see a financial hit to the airlines this week?

I don't know what the purpose is of the Real ID bullshit, but it's not good, whatever it is.

I’ve had mine for a couple years now. It was no big deal.

I'm sure the federal government will only use it for "Our safety."
"Due to forgeries and hackers infiltrating our real ID system we've developed an implantable chip that will provide the ultimate in identification security and convenience, keeping your data and our nation 100 percent safe"

So basically I need a passport level ID to rravel on airlines in-country. That's bullcrap.
After my recent experience flying to and from Miami they can stick those airplanes up their ass. The fucking airports are ridiculous. Trust me, the minor inconvenience caused by bringing a birth certificate to the DMV for a Real ID ain’t shit compared to what you gotta do to get on a fucking airplane.

I've flown. I just think our gov is always taking steps that curtail our right and infringe on a level of privacy we should otherwise have. Next you'll need it to get on a bus or cross state lines. "You payuhz pleeze". Then again I think a plastic card telling someone who we are is kind of like the ultimate fallacy. We are more than some dumb card that tags us like cattle. Be well today Floyd.

Well, limiting your movement, like crossing state lines, etc. you would have a point. An airplane you have no inherent right to. It’s private property. They can refuse you for any reason they want. Just like a store can refuse to provide service to you. Unless you’re black or gay. 🙄

There’s no more information involved than a passport. Or a background check for a CDL.

It's seems like it's just fake outrage for the most part. This has literally been a thing for like 20 years in various forms and is not a "goes live today" you need it to get into certain government facilities, military bases, etc... States and citizens have had at least a decade of heads up on this. People bitch about illegal immigrants or needing ID to vote, but not an ID that way more likely presents you as actually you?

I have a passport, but haven’t left the country in around 15 years. I won’t be going anywhere via plane until I know for certain all of the DEI pilots are back working at McDonalds.

This is the actual issue :ROFLMAO:

I don't understand the point of having a passport then. Why do both of these need to exist? A passport already does all we need. There must be some other reason. I bet if we encourage enough people to call Real ID a "racist" thing, it will go away.

So you're cool with greyhound busses or a cab requiring Real ID or passport to go two cities over since they are private? Uber? How about to buy a gun, since a gun shop is private? What we are really talking about is an intermediary step towards total information awareness and control.

You don’t need real ID if you have a passport.

The gun store already doesn’t have to sell you a gun for any reason they decide. Uber and Greyhound have rules. Their shit, their rules. Those are all private businesses. There’s no way to oppose those guys having their own rules and at the same time support a bakery’s right to not bake a cake for a gay wedding.

The only little issue I have is that the government seems to be mandating this and not the airlines. But the airlines don’t seem to have an issue with it. If they did, then I’d rethink my position.
