Real ID goes live today

We'll see if the airlines have an issue with it if their bottom line declines. Airlines were already struggling this year. I'm not for either the airlines or government trying to force this b.s. on people. Reminds me a lot of the fake vaccine they pushed in 2021.

There’s no more information involved than a passport. Or a background check for a CDL.
It's the first centralized federal ID database. Could be ultimately be used for anything, good or bad. Could be tied to gun ownership, vaccine status, etc. It was supposedly needed to prevent another 9/11. Clearly that is BS, not in the least because it wouldn't have stopped the alleged attackers. I'm not getting it and suggest others avoid it as well.

I've flown. I just think our gov is always taking steps that curtail our right and infringe on a level of privacy we should otherwise have. Next you'll need it to get on a bus or cross state lines. "You payuhz pleeze". Then again I think a plastic card telling someone who we are is kind of like the ultimate fallacy. We are more than some dumb card that tags us like cattle. Be well today Floyd.
Mooooo!

Well, joking aside, I don't think anyone has been able to answer why we need both a Passport and a Real ID. Seems pointless.

It was my understanding that a US Passport, like any other country's passport, allows you to travel in and out of other countries. They have every right to know who you are and possibly where you have been in the past. It just so happens you can also use it domestically to fly and to enter federal buildings.

A Real ID on the other hand, is strictly for domestic flying and to enter a federal building. The latter of course is most important.

I really don't care about all of this identity shit, because a.) I don't want illegals, criminals, terrorist, etc. getting into the wrong places and b.) I have nothing to hide.

I thought, again I could be wrong, the main reason was that it is WAY to easy to get a Drivers License (especially in some states) and therefore not really a good identifier from a national perspective.

PS: Put a fucking chip in my neck. I don't care. If someone steals my identity - at least I can prove otherwise

B) you think you have nothing to hide, but a different administration can changes the rules. Then you might have something to hide. But it's not even about not needing to hide anything. It's about the indignity in needing to prove to someone else who doesn't own you that you're "Okay".

A) There are already ID requirements in place. The only thing the real id does is centralize the database. That might seem good to you, but again, it can ultimately be used for anything.

It's amazing to consider that a little over a century ago you didn't need a passport to go to another country. You just left. No permission slip needed on either end.

Yep. My grandfather used to tell me when he sent in 25 cents and they sent you a "drivers license"

All tools furthering the goal of total control and all of it will burn one day=hope for a better future.

You are probably right but my larger concern is people that are not supposed to be here in the first place and then the people that want to do harm or steal someone else's identity. I may be alone on this, but those things are far more important to me than my government knowing who I am and where I go. :dunno:

The same people selling us on a world without borders sure seem to demand we have all our papers in order in order to live that out=BS.

There is no centralized database. It's bs.

I don't understand the point of having a passport then. Why do both of these need to exist? A passport already does all we need. There must be some other reason. I bet if we encourage enough people to call Real ID a "racist" thing, it will go away.
From what I know about it, if you already have a passport it isn’t needed

Point us to this centralized database instead of talking out of your ass as usual. Like actually point us to it, not quote some conspiracy nut or someone who doesn't know wtf they're talking about. Link it to us. Show us.

Dude, are you that naive ? Centralized database ? They already have that. It’s about as stupid as believing that the ATF actually destroyed all those background checks after 88 days like the law says they have to. Every piece of information the government has ever gotten electronically, they still have.

Real ID is a guarantee your drivers license or ID card isn’t fake. That’s it. You literally don’t give them any more information than they already have.

All "ID" is bullcrap and a step towards total control. Birth certificates, social security, state ID, etc etc. Garbage.
So how would you identify illegal aliens ? Or convicted pedophiles ?

Before there was ID cards they caught people using wanted posters and then hung or imprisoned them instead of dumping them back on the streets like they do today in ID world. It seemed effective enough.

So you think a hand drawn picture of a black or brown guy is going to be sufficient for some white dude to identify ?

I’m pretty sure that was a big part of the reason many, MANY totally innocent people were hung, either on the gallows or a nearby tree.
