Hey guys,
New here, but player for 40+ years.
In looking for info on a fender dual showman half-stack with Grey snakeskin tolex.
I just got it (back...?) and am trying to find out how many were made and why/for whom.
I see that Buckeyedog previously owned one, but don't know how to message.

I had one for awhile in the 90s. Snakeskin was a standard option, not sure how many they made. I don't think they were rare.

That's good to know, where were you living at the time?

Not an expert, but researched a bunch before buying one, and I think those are just a smaller run from like the late 80s. Probably a red knob era circuit.

Same as the red knob ones out in the 90’s. Greg Howe used them back then. Those V front cabs are cool. Fender high gain amp for the time.

Northern West Virginia, close to Virginia and Maryland.
Well, how bout that. Me too... Winchester
Might very well have been the same amp. I think i got it from melodee music in Leesburg

Greg's was modded too; would love to know more details about that because I'm obsessed with his tone and playing

When I saw him back thenwith Howe II he just had that amp and cab, tube screamer and a small rack. His tone usually isnt very good, but his playing is awesome. Learned alot of his stuff over the years.
We played a battle of the bands around that time and this Showman halfstack was one of the backline. Plugged my rack into the cab if I remember correctly. Those cabs are cool.

It very well could be. The tolex on the speaker cab was scuffed pretty good on the front, about halfway up. My sound tech at the time owned the amp. He had a music store that went out of business, and a house full of guitars and gear. He let me use the amp for a couple of shows, to see if I wanted it. The tone was kind of dull, though, so I gave it back to him when he liquidated all his stuff. I would love to pick up another one someday and try it with different tubes and speakers.

know nothing about it, but just felt the spitwad hit my leg. 🤤

I got it @Melodee Music in Leesburg.
Do the names Rick Mock or Wrennie Weir ring a bell?
