Yes it was, because I helped start the argument: KISS vs Priest; including the fashion discussion/comparisons.

Many bands hire writers, before the Beatles, professional songwriters wrote songs not the artists/musicians. Many other bands use writers and other musicians...before and after KISS; for KISS is was mostly due to Ace, Peter or Vinnie being incapable, uncooperative or not showing up. Working with other writers worked out well for them too.

To say they didn't make most of their art is disingenuous; if you look at the writing credits, mostly early '80s, when they were having trouble with Ace and Peter, and finding their replacements.

exactly. and there are other measures such as complexity, skills, talent, and record sales...which are all valid measurable attributes; some are objective, some are subjective.

Yep, that's why Justin Bieber sold more records than Van Halen.

More artistic merit, including because he had other people writing his music. Definitely checks out logically and is a sound argument.

Nikki Minaj, too. Immortal art with lots of artistic merit and album sales.




Culturally significant art like this can only be achieved with outside writers; and only quantified with metrics such as album sales, which reflect the infinite wisdom of the buying public. Great point.

There is literally only Kiss VS Priest in your mind, it's not even an argument to anyone that has any taste whatsoever :hys:

Priest are actual musicians who completely wrote metal history; Kiss are a marketing company with banal music as an afterthought that lives on only through the nostalgia of boomers

taste is subjective. Priest wrote what metal history? the gap between Sabbath and Metallica, and the thrash bands that made Priest sound dated and irrelevant, and left in the dust by the '80s?
