Sort of related, check out the fret gash and fretboard dent from a guitar simply going from leaning against the couch to ‘slamming’ against the coffee table, all force right at 3rd string 2nd fret. I was moving the couch away from the wall while vacuuming and FUUUUUCK! Dumbass.

It actually polished out. I just polished it back to playing good and went no further. But the scar remains. Read my scars!

I didn’t worry about steaming out the fretboard dent, you can’t feel it. But on second thought maybe I should…that’s what partscasters are for right?

So I kind of thought maybe there is something to it and it doesn't hurt to put something on the guitars fretboard in between the strings if anything......

But I don't want to spend 30 dollars on "fret protectors"....... so I figured why not use old Yugioh or Baseball cards.

If you have business cards or old Pokémon or in this case Yugioh or old Baseball cards it's easy and best of all free.

Little life hack and Mickey Mouse but it essentially does the same thing and you can cushion it further by applying more Baseball/Yugioh cards. I figure you can buy a Topps Blasterbox for 20-25 bucks or a YuGiOh Starter deck for 12 bucks or two or three packs of Yugioh cards if you want to save money and you'd have more than enough "fret protectors" for 3-5 or more guitars.......

And you may pull something of value or an Autographed Ohtani/Trout/Judge/Skubal card or something too but yeah much more affordable than buying "fret protectors" for 30+ dollars a piece plus shipping and free in this case....... plus it looks cool and fun ^_^

Or just cut up a cardboard box.

Or live dangerously and do nothing.
This too...... but I'm too lazy to do that and the cards are here anyways...... or like fold up computer paper or something too..... either way no real need to spend money on fancy "fret protectors" when you can use whatever yo Mickey Mouse one and it works as good or better too for free ^_^

You could use bubble wrap and if the bubbles are popped…fretboard saved!
I'd steer away from plastic in this case bro'. Shit's gotta breathe IMHO, especially if one's travelling with the case, lest sweating cause mould and / or corrosion.

FWIMBW for anyone reading, IMHO SS frets should absolutely not require any such measures.

PS
I know some manufacturers include plastic sheets cut-to-size for this sort of thing, but they're flat and therefore allow sufficient air movement underneath. The risk with bubble wrap is trapping pockets of air 'cause it's not flat. Duh.
