SS power tubes…it was only a matter of time

It's not a vacuum tube or a tube at all. And metal casings vs solid state devices have nothing to do with each other. Which doesn't seem to be obvious to you given your first post and followup posts in this thread. It's a couple of mosfets surrounded by a heatsink. Maybe stop pretending like you know what you're talking about 99% of the time. So that way when people are looking for answers on the internet they don't mistakenly take your advice.
Tube/Mosfet/Heat Sink....... whatever it's not glass and you use it in place of a fucking glass vacuum tube......

It's not that hard to understand and no need to overcomplicate it either :dunno:

Interesting to see another one of these pop up. I have a high-voltage lab power supply that runs off tubes, and before it was obsoleted the manufacturer sold some solid state devices with the right form factor to replace the actual tubes. @JackBootedThug it's 500V @ 400mA if you're feeling froggy...

Are you still talking about the metal RCA tubes, or just about the semiconductor replacements like in the OP? The metal RCA tubes are definitely vacuum tubes, just with a metal envelope instead of a glass one.

Either or....... I mean just not trying to complicate stuff it's obvios these aren't vacuum tubes for anyone with any decent critical thinking abilities metal/semiconductor/ceramic/SS or whatever

You're mind boggling sometimes. It's as much of a vacuum tube as your cell phone is a merry-go-round. The first vacuum tubes had metal casings and still have no relation to what's in the OP. It's not overcomplicating anything, because they aren't the same thing.

The only one complicating things here is you...... Mosfet/Heatsink/Metallic whatever they are not Glass Vacuum tubes and simply easy to categorize them as SS tubes vs chasing your own tail like you are now doing or whatever.

What should we call them then?

It's just easier to refer to them as SS tubes no? Obviously we all know they aren't glass vacuum tubes so what the hell are you on about?

There used to be more of these SS tubes available before in general and NOS ceramic/metal or whatever the hell they are made of but when Covid hit and the fires in the Chinese tube plants and then politics in China and red tape to get them going again plus the Russia/Ukraine War adding more BS to the fragility of the supply chain......

People quickly bought them up I guess and there are less of those NOS ones available and can't even see any NOS Jet City SS tubes either.

Jeez it's not that complicated to understand they aren't glass vacuum tubes..... they are heatsink/metallic/ceramic or kryptonite or whatever the fuck.....

No Glass= SS Tubes.

What's so complicated about a little common sense :dunno:

That is not a "SS" tube at all. If you knew anything about really old vacuum tubes of a certain design (or have basic reading comprehension) then you'd recognize that some otherwise typical vacuum tubes came with those black metal (or whatever the material is) covers. You just assumed because they're both black they must be the same thing. That's racist.

For the record I’ve had a Dickerson Lap Steel amp from the 1940s for many years now and it has metal envelope tubes. They made metal tubes for years before they ever made glass tubes. I’m very aware of metal envelope tubes. These aren’t that.

Tone is in the teal mother of toilet seat finish.

As @thegame pointed out; The thing in the OP is not this:

He’ll be right over to stick his tongue across the probes 😂

The Kid’s space vacuum writing style is very metaphoric regarding his gaps in knowledge.
I'm not the one being annoying complaining about BS at least so I'll take that any day thank you ^_^
