That looks like an amazing place to hang out. Do you drum too or is that practice space for band or what?

How would you compare the Quick Rod to the Wizard?
I dabble but it mostly gets used by my longtime friend and old band mate who I'm still close with. I have a neighbor who is also a drummer and comes over from time to time.

As far as Quick Rod vs the Wizard, they're both rather tight and dry amps. The Quick Rod has a more 80's vibe to it? I have the fully loaded version. With all the extras turned off, it has a hint of a cocked wah tone. I usually run the "Old" mode and use the mid shift switch depending on what cab I'm using. The Splawn is more mid focused than the Wizard while the Wizard is more scooped. The Wizard is also a bit more articulate and thumps harder. My Wizard has more horse power behind it with KT88's, so it also gets a little more low end from that. Both amps are also very loud. Definitely not apartment amps. My Diezels and Oranges are much better for late night playing.

Thanks. Have considered offing the QR for a Wizard. MORE thump and articulation scares me

Lol yeah it's a beast. I love it but there are times where I just want something toned down a bit 😂 It can get tiresome blasting that amp for extended periods of time. I've considered moving my QR on. The MGL covers the classic Marshall 800 tones pretty well for me.

It’s a logo made up of different alchemy symbols.

Tube heads are great, but they all have their time and place these days.

For writing/tracking hours on end, being able to toggle between multiple tones/settings with zero issues - it’s hard to beat the neural plug ins. It’s easier to track soldano tones than it was with my Soldano heads.
I know it’s a work tool for you, unlike for me, but don’t you get fatigued from the digital stuff? I can set the knobs in my amp to whatever settings and enjoy it non-stop but with my axe fx 3 even a setting that sounds and feels good still tires me out pretty fast. Post pictures of your cats.

Guitar is a Scala (Leo Scala) that he made for me about 10 years ago.
The graphic I made myself from an old T-Shirt that was ripped to shit. Came out really Good. Amplified Nation offers a slew of different graphics for the front baffle, but I didn't like any that they had to offer, and the up charge was just not worth it IMHO. So, I got the plain Jane Tolex 100 watt model and customized it. Super easy to take off and return to stock if needed.
The loop on the amp, and pretty much all of these types of amps doesn't like delays. I have 5 different delays and none of them sounded good. The killer tone on both channels just disappeared! I first tried my Fryette Powerstation, which worked Very Good,,,but was told by other owners of these amps to get the two rock effects loop interface,,and it's friggen killer!!
Thanks. Chat GPT couldn’t figure your guitar out, thought it was a PRS.

This amplify nation is one of the few amps I really want to own but now the whole thing with the loop that you mentioned really puts me off. I’m sure it’s worth it but I don’t want to have to have to use another thing just for the loop of this one amp to sound good. It’s not the money, even just the hassle. Why can’t they just make the loop good or build the Kleinulator inside the amp? Is this a “play authentic” feature of a Dumble amp?

Yes,,,from what I have read, Dumble style circuits like this and many other amps like Bludotone, Two Rock,,,don't generally have an Efx loop,,and require a -loop-a-lator device. That said, an email to Taylor Cox (the owner of Amplified Nation) came back with him recommending a buffer like the JHS 'little black buffer' pedal (85$ new) to place in the loop chain with my delay pedal. The Two-Rock loop interface I purchased was expensive, but it has many ways to alter the signal in the f/x loop, send and return levels with bright switches for each, and is tube driven. I have even used it by itself to boost the gain of the amp a bit. (For me the gain knob on the amp sounds killer, but starts to go into a chewy phase north of 1 oclock, which I don't dig much. I think the Reza guy that used to be here on R/T has a cool demo of the Ampliphonix and Gain on YouTube.

Being that I’m only using it for tracking pre-production it’s no different than if I was using an actual SLO, since I would only be hearing monitors because the cab would be isolated.

If anything, I just get ear fatigue from hours of starting/stopping loud, full mixes.

If I’m just jamming on an actual amp, it’s typically not for 6 or more hours at a time - I think it would all yield the same end result.

I'm always amused at 'post your rig' threads. They always end up as 'post a pic of everything you've ever bought in your life'

Cool but how would I know it’s actually your cat?

Your reply made me realize that “fatigue” was the wrong term. I’m not doing any heavy lifting with my ears. It’s just that as good as they can sound and feel I find that I lose interest/focus pretty quickly with fractal and neural amps (through the same IR and headphones) while a real amp just delivers at any setting.

FINE I’ll buy the Two-Rock loop interface I guess.

Can the amp also do the more classic vowely Dumble sound or is it pretty exclusively in the plexi camp? I have good plexi tones covered, not 100% sure which Amplified Nation amp I would get. The Reza demo sounds good. Amp sounds pretty good here as well:

Thanks ! I like Herbert better but vh4 is punchier . I love both . Vh4 is dryer less compressed . And thanks again !
That was my experience playing a vh4 briefly at a music store. I prefer my herb but would love to spend more time on a vh4 at some point
