Well if that's their formula, no way, even if I had the money. I'm not playing ANYTHING in front of Paul, Dan, and Andy....even if I had all day to warm up lol
I don’t know what the formula is but others can chime in who went to MI as well but there were defined classes for the students. Then there were private sessions. Then there were things like this; Where Frank Gambale or Jennifer Batton came in… can’t remember the DIO guitarist at the time, Dan Huff, Paul Gilbert, and Al dimiola. Some of these guys would have an impromptu couple of students come up. Ask questions, show a problem or something that they were working on. And the “professor” or “guest” would say…. Give up dude; you suck! Or man that’s cool. You know typical stuff. Everyone pointing and laughing at you while sounding like Cory Feldman. And leave in shhhhhammmme.!!

As John Petrucci says in his psycho exercises; give up noob, sell your guitar on eBay.

Andy's about as good of a guy and player as they come, as are the other guys. He's been doing these for a while, and always well-intentioned and thought out. I agree it's a high price, but if some are willing to pay it, good for them. It's immensely difficult for these guys to make money nowadays regardless of their talent. Andy's been as active and creative in monetizing his talent as one can be, but you still get the sense it's a brutal industry nowadays even at their talent levels.

I paid like $700 for a 3 day pass for Skankfest 2025

Most expensive tickets I've ever bought but should be worth 🥳
Cool thing about that is, it takes off the pressure of, if it fucks hard….at that price they’ll fuck you soft too.

You know there is a new treatment for “bottomers”. It’s called hole-tox. Botox for buttholes to be a good bottomer. I’m not kidding and no I don’t do the treatment but I might need it if I go. 🙁

Petrucci does the same kind of "guitar camp" events every year or so, with invited guests.

I like Petrucci's playing, tone, gear, DT, etc. and many of his guests that have seminars, but not worth the cost, travel, etc., I can listen to their music, watch vids / breakdown vids, find tabs, find isolated tracks, etc. if I was that interested in understanding what they're doing.

Nothing beats private lessons. Especially from someone who knows how to teach like techy. I still suck but I better that super suck. I’ve moved up the ranks
Haha agreed, I’m just tired of myself.. lol I’ve been playing the same style, similar riffs, similar tones for over a decade, & it’s just became monotonous. Also Techy & I are only a couple of cities apart so I reached out to the man to help me break my bad repetitive habits. 🙂😂

I've wanted to go for years, can't justify it personally. I've even looked at Marriot's and transportation because I have a LOT of points, but Marriot properties are too far away.

I might go someday if I find a cool roommate.

That said, I believe the price is reasonable. Lots of talent, several days, you're bringing a lot of exposure to people to learn from some stellar talent.

For me, I don't gig anymore, I work a ton, and I struggle to find time to play. It would be better to go if I can work a little less and try to retain something with practice time afterward.
