What are your thoughts on the Diezel VH4?

I always hear the new vh4 has way more presence instead of the rolled off thing. Anyone know if that’s a thing?

They got a bit more open and brighter over the years. I think Peter himself said, that you have to raise the presence on the old ones a bit more if you want them to sound similar

Here are two old Clips from me, with a 2010 (i think) Model:
First one is in A with a Grossmann ISO-Cab

And this one through the Mesa Oversized, tuned to more kinda Standard. Eb and later drop C sharp, or so.

And by the way, the Lenz sounded so good today, that i don't think i would even need the VH4. Ok, "need" is not true anyway :D
I already wanted to make a Thread about it: "How to know if the Amp sounds right?" - You get Goosebumps.
It took me a while, with the 5 Push-Pull switches = 32 possibilities and the Plate Driven Tone Stack and 2 different boosts to choose from, but now i get the hang of it.

the second clip is straight in?
and with the Dime SH-13 i got from the comments.
I think the Diezels work great with bright and clear pickups! it's always good if the pickup is easy on the low mids and an upper mid + treble bite, because the amp has enough lows+lowmids on it's own already. And i think in that clip it sounds bright enough (and good! (y)).

need to install my rails PUs in something!!! i hear the same i really liked with my SH-13 in that clip!

The short answer is yes, Overall the latest VH4 revision is brighter by comparison to previous versions, That said, I want to manage expectations: It will not achieve that glassy, sizzle in the high top that is commonly associated with a 5150, Recto or certain Marshalls (JVM). I have a preference for brighter tones that have a bit of sizzle. At living room volumes I still have to run the treble and presence near 2 - 3 o'clock to get the top end response that I want on my 2023 VH4. When you close mic the cabinet you can back it off, and when you turn up to rehearsal volume it can be backed off significantly as some of those upper register frequencies come to life with the additional volume. It also should be noted that chan 2 on the latest version is greatly improved and just kills for Mod Marshallesques tones, and chan 4 can now be used for rhythm playing as it is more open, brighter and meaner sounding. Hope this is helpful.

That's why the VHX kills!!!
the modern setting has more of that glas and sizzle up top and a clearer attack.

In the first Clip there's 3 Parts: unboosted Channel 3, unboosted Channel 4, Boosted Channel 3.
I think i used EMG 81s in that Clip. Dean Razorback V255

In the second Clip it was a Dean Stealth with Sh13s, correct. Nice Pickups.
Thanks.

This is very helpful. Thanks. Do you know in what year the latest changes were made?

I’ve heard so many mixed reviews on the Diezel VH4 over the years I didn’t even know what to expect. Tech gave me the opportunity to plug in & I’ll say I haven’t had anything punch me in the chest like that. 😵‍💫🥊 You always hear people explain amps being percussive in the attack & feel.. Well that thing brings the freakin kick drum lol I could see it reshaping the way you write music from the tone & response. Tech had that thing dialed in tho.. I definitely preferred it running his pedal chain through the front end.. 💯 HUGE difference. Take his advice & I bet you’ll be happy. I approve of the VH4 & officially plan to add one to my line up. 😍

Congrats on the buy @SimonDorn I hope you enjoy it 🤘🏽

Thank you @Techdeath for the opportunity & experience 🙏🏽 Now sell me that Diezel!👀😂
It was wild . I had that thing cranked !Also any of you on here are welcomed to come try my Amos anytime

I want to say 2019 or 2020. noty completely certain.
I think he made changes to his whole Line-Up round about the time when they released the "brighter and tighter" Herbert MK3.
At least the Herbert, D-Moll and the VH4. Don't know about the other Amps.
So the 2022 Modell i had, had the latest changes already.

Sure you could get lenz or someone in Europe to do something similar to what Jeremy does with an added negative feedback. Open that thing up!
