Kemper Profiler MkII Series is Here

No Bluetooth or WiFi; seems like a huge miss.

But I like the Kemper user interface and the powered rack/toaster format is perfect for us guys that go into a 4x12, so I'll wait for the new profiling tech this summer to see if I end up with one of these new ones.

I wonder if it has a fan this time 'round, given the massive increase in processing power.

The lack of a fan is one of the many reasons I love my Kemper Rack.
Looks like it's fanless

That says that the PowerHead and PowerRack models add a fanless amp in each.

What it doesn't say is whether or not there'a fan already in there.

Thanks brother. Maybe I'm wrong?

Ok, I see what your getting at. Yeah I didn't see anything on if the non-powered units already had a fan, juts the power amp units didn't add one.

does this mean the first version is going to nose dive in resale value like the old axe fx's did? i've been wanting to pick up a kemper stage again, but i've been waiting to find the right "Whore out" deal. like 750 or 800.

There are a couple by me for around $700. That was before this latest announcement, too. I'm expecting them to hit closer to $500 now.

I really liked my Kemper power rack, it was handy having it all in one unit.

Unfortunately I had to sell it as I came back to it during a break in a gig and it had reset itself which if that had happened during a set would have been a disaster as it takes a while to start up. Never trusted it again after that!

Is this really a mk2? Seems more like a facelift. I see no reason to upgrade. For my uses, mine is still perfect.

I loved my Kemper, it was the only "amp" I had for 5+ years, but the form factor of the rack unit plus the footswitch became a bear. The Kemper Stage was a nice upgrade, but my Kemper board was massive and I needed to streamline more. I regularly used the Morph function on an expression pedal to quickly roll off gain to go from Clean to High Gain while still keeping effects/tails intact.. But I always wished I could Morph between a Dual Rec high gain profile and a Morgan AC20 clean.. Basically having two Profiles loaded up at once. Looks like the Kemper mk2 still can't do that. I can load up 4-5 Amp Captures/Profiles on the same patch of my Quad Cortex.. And my Quad Cortex has a nice screen and GUI to interact with.

Kemper Mk2 will be a hard pass for me, but at least the Kemper Mk1 will be crazy cheap.

I’m pretty pumped for it. I’ll probably keep my unpowered toaster but when I eventually add a powered unit it will definitely be a MKii

Pretty small improvements for an update taking a decade
OTOH, it points to the fact that the first unit was so-well-thought-out and finely-tuned via 13+ years of software updates that a drastic redesign wasn't necessary in the company's eyes.

Yeah, having only looked at it superficially, it seems that most of the "upgrades" are thanks to the DSP boost.

I remember many folks' requesting dual-amp functionality so whilst I'm a little surprised it isn't there yet, I'm tippin' it'll arrive via a software update at some point.

I wouldn't rule it out is all.

I just absolutely can’t believe they haven’t upgraded the screen. It’s actually hilarious they didn’t.

I thought about that too.

Current models are up to 14 years old and their screens haven't been an issue. Sure, there's the odd one, but it's rare. It makes sense therefore to go with something more-resilient, assuming of course that the MkII series is here for a similar-length haul.

Just playing Devil's advocate I s'pose. I was a little surprised too at first.

But people are so superficial and a modern looking screen is definitely in the top 3 complaints I see people post. Not so much users, but potential customers when comparing to others.

Personally, I just use Rig Manager 99% of the time and am far from a power user. So it doesn’t really bother me.
