Any luthier/repair guys have a small piece of scrap ebony they'd be willing to sell/ship?
I have a fingerboard I need to repair a small crack/cut in, and I was going to use the sawdust/glue method.
Figured I'd try here before buying any

Thanks

I don’t have a piece that sizes

show me exactly what your trying to fix, cuz I have some scraps of ebony I’ve been saving.
It may actually be really tight/dark rosewood

I wouldn’t cut into the fretboard, I’d use the saw dust if it was mine but Ideally if you did you’re needing a piece no bigger than ~ 6cm x 2cm x 1cm? Does that sound right? Then you still have the binding problem.
Did you happen to “crash” into a cymbal? No pun. I’ve done fucked up a few guitars fighting with the drums.

I wasn't going to cut.. just fill with dust & cyanoacrylate.. for the binding I was going to try acetone and some off-white material I have lying around (either a piece of old TUSQ nut, or aged plastic, but i think that may turn whiter when I melt it)

It was like that when i got the guitar and has been stable for a good 6-8 years, but I want to button it up so it doesn't decide to creep/grow if it gets too dry around here some winter.

If you have a scrap that size, I'd be happy to pay for it, postage, & a few $ for your time.
Let me know
