No one does Amp / Gear fests anymore eh ?

I've never been invited to an amp fest but it kinda has that avon lady get together feel. Instead of old women with cheap makeup it'll be old dudes with body odor, beer breff, and amps I can't afford.

More like a Tupperware party...

Tupperware party, 1960s. : r/TheWayWeWere

Blast from the Past: Tupperware parties

I can say for sure that where live in New Zealand that it was covid that killed our gearfest .. there wasn't one from 2019 until earlier this year

the extreme lockdowns we had here really did dehumanise so many of the population here that people didn't seem to want to be around "strangers"

went to one @15 yrs ago at a rehearsal studio on Long Island
Fortin was there and Carl Roa

Would be down to get one going on the West Coast in SoCal ^_^

Could Probably use the Parking Lot on a Sunday or rent a spot or two at the Swapmeet or something :dunno:

we did one that was fun, but it was in one big room and really kind of hard to hear anything with so many rigs being played. it would be cool to maybe rent a block of hotel rooms or somewhere with a bunch of rooms to isolate things a little
We always did one rig at a time. Owner shows it a few minutes. Then if anyone wants to try it they take a turn.
If you want to play longer that was after everyone else.
Not a bad idea to have a drummer and bass player there. So people can try the gear with a few other musicians.

Same. I would always build a wall of cabs and amps and I would have one long speaker cable and power cable. I would then "Vanna White" and hook an amp to a cab and someone would play for the group. We only ever did one at a time, and we would switch cabs and amps and heat different combos.

That’s how Lugo did it. Take turns ripping one amp at a time with everyone’s different guitars and playing styles while the amps were tweaked in real time and always bone dry no effects. Everyone can play talent wise which always made them more fun

OK. That's it. Party at Nic's house. He has all most of the amps we need and a back yard for tents. He's centrally located. He can teach us some stuff. Like a Summer Day Camp for adult gear junkies. I'm free mid Aug.
I'm in.

No admission charge if you bring a combine or a toenail clipper.
