Purchased the 78/79 package from IK multimedia, having issues downloading the software....

I made an account with IK multimedia after registering the ToneX I/O interface I got that software in a zipped file downloaded fine, last week. I then purchased the 78/79 Brown sound software package yesterday. I received an email stating I need to download the IK multimedia Product Manager first so I logged on with my user ID and only ToneX SE and Amplitube 5 was on there to be downloaded the 78/79 package was not in the left hand header in my product manager whatsoever. I figured maybe I needed to have the Tone X SE installed first but every time I start the download it loads up to 25-33% and states the internet connection was lost and when I try to resume it just freezes up.

I have sent a message to IK support so I'll see what they have to say.

I am on satellite internet but that's never really been an issue for downloads in the past. So I am dead in the water for now. I thought IKMM would just send a Zipped file of the software to my email like they did for the AXE I/O one inerface but that is not the case. Bummer....... I wanted to be jamming through the 78/79 package today........:bleh::dunno: Any suggestions from those with IK multimedia setups?

The packs are authorized through the software and not a seperate download from my experience.

Meaning, they appear in your collections on the left once you buy. Alternatively, you can click tonenet on the top right in Tonex and click collections next to it.

When you go into your account in any of the IK apps, you can click on restore purchases and it should then show up in your collections.

Am I going to need something like Reaper to host this software?....I was under the impression the TONEX SE would host the 78/79 software to play it through my computer speaker monitors.

I got a reply from IK support and the email suggested I download from the USER AREA of my account.

Right now it shows 5 software programs to download in my USER AREA..........Do I really need all of these??? WTF??? What is the bare minimum that I need to make this work? I thought the TONEX SE would work just fine......:dunno:

IK has not been clear at all as to what I need to download first to make any of this functional. This process should be pretty plug and play IMHO.....WTF. Click this install this plug in the interface the USB port and jam away.......

Which one do I need to download, I don't need all of these do I?

Here is what my USER area shows:

fun, huh.

i opened both Tonex and Amplitube 5 apps at the same time, without my pedal connected,

and could access the stock list of amps and the Tone.Net library of user presets from either app.
Tone.Net also shows the downloadable collections for sale including Brown Sound 78/79.

Amplitube allows you to build a rig and select from a list of delay/modulation/OD pedals to insert before/after amp, which is an option i did not see in the Tonex app.

AlsoI could not open Tonex Editor/Librarian without pedal connected.

So you haven't been able to get yours working either?????????? Please don't say that........:bash::thumbsdown:

One would think you would need ONE main program to host any of the ToneX software packages and for the life of me IK has not stated which one these 5 software packages I need to download then import the 78/79 software package??????? I should not need to download all fooking five of them WTF??????

Nowhere in my purchases did IK say you need to download this first then download this next, hook up you interface and play........I have not read the 45 page manual for the IKMM Product Manager but it really should NOT be that difficult to get this up and running.

My email for my 79/79 package that I bought said here is your link Download IK Product manager and download you purchase. Is my 78/79 package already loaded in the Amplitube 5 Custom Shop download????? Why send me all these other ones?? I have no idea????

You probably only need the Axe and Tonex SE. Amplitube is a plugin for a daw. Tonex won’t work as a plugin. Not sure what CS is, will have to look into that.
I just ordered a Tonex and Tonex Capture today. Starting to get the hang of the Tonex One finally.

And their manuals / support docs assume the user knows too much about their products so I had to do a bunch of searching and swearing getting stuff figured out.

I am already getting disgusted with the process, SWEARING HAS BEGUN:LOL:............c'mon it's 2025....I thought they would send me a WINZIP file with the software needed and that would be that.

i wish i could comprehensively answer you but i’m 2 days and 6 hours into Tonex use and i’m still figuring this mess out myself.
it’s why i haven’t purchased the VH pack yet as i wanna know exactly how to handle the files and where there are going.

so far IK Product Manager seems to be downloading files into a Document folder on my hard drive that it automatically created.
See “Settings” (gear wheel) at top right of PM toolbar to check where your files are going.

this vid breaks down the logic but is older so things may have changed

misery loves company!
i wanted to punch a ho day 1🤣

but at least i have the pedal so i can just yank the friggen usb cable and play around with knobs.

i’m giving it a month before i decide to keep or punt into the Pacific.

Tonex absolutely works as a plug in. You can use the Tonex models within Amplitube as a plug in as well.

I warned you that it was a kind of a shitshow. Not very intuitive at all.
Just install the Axe I/O software and the Tonex SE. When you've got Tonex running, you should see the 78/79 pack in your collections. Worry about the other stuff later.

IK Multimedia is like other music software companies. I know my Native Instruments Synths and Samplers are the same way. You dont just get zip files these days. You have to have their software that authorizes your purchases on your machine, and then you install through that management software. Most big companies are like this now to prevent getting their software pirated.

Basically, you need to install IK Product Manager. That controls everything else. You login with your credentials and it keeps track of what you own. After that, you only need the AXE I/O One Driver that is in the hardware tab, and then the TONEX SE that is in your software tab. The rest is just additional software that you can use if you are interested. Amplitube is a lot of fun, but it is something totally different.

You will not receive files for the 78/79 pack. In your ToneX on the left side it will say Signature Collections. It will show up there automatically because your ownership is verified through the IK Product manager. The other packs that come with ToneX SE will show up also.

You can use the ToneX software standalone. It will also install the ToneX Editor, but you dont need that. That is only for the pedals.

As mentioned above, when you purchase a collection from IK it will automatically show up because it is authorized through the product manager.

You only have to manually import presets when you buy them from outside sources and you just drag them into the program.

The Document folder is mostly for your own user-created presets. You dont have to manage this stuff yourself.

I told you that it was a kind of a shitshow. Not very intuitive at all.
Just install the Axe I/O software and the Tonex SE. When you've got Tonex running, you should see the 78/79 pack in your collections. Worry about the other stuff later.
Yes you did...........:shocked:...I thought how bad could it be.....

Why did they send me all these other Amplitube programs when I DID NOT buy them????? I only bought the AXE one which came with ToneX SE and the interface software and then I bought the 78/79 Package. I should not have all these other softwares in my USER AREA for download.

Do I boot up the AXE one first them open the ToneX SE or do I start up the ToneX SE and then the Tone X SE finds and connects the Axe One interface?

I did download the AXE One I./O ok but I haven't launched it yet but it's installed. I will try to download ToneX SE tomorrow and see if I can get something to work. I'm to disgusted to keep messing with it today..........

So far all my downloads from IK stop 30% of the way through when downloading from IK product manager.

You weren't kidding about not user friendly Chumbucket.....I do appreciate the help though! I do at least want to get this running.

The YT guys make it look like it's a quite simple process.
