Marcus has such great phrasing. Both are really fun players to watch!

This is great!

I've gotten to see Marcus a few times, he's great.

I foolishly passed on a Kingfish show near Cortland, NY.

Bit of a drive on a weeknight for this old man...

These shows have always been a joke.
There are guys out there who could really entertain an audience doing the Jimi stuff, but Experience Hendrix puts on the same suspects.
Funny, nobody questions the absolute decimation of Jimi tunes, but God forbid at a VH Tribute or Ozzy send-off someone doesn't recreate an exact solo.

I get your point Carl.
I almost primarily listen to live music, I may play a studio recording if Im listening to my turntable.
And I like to hear what the player does, interpretation of the song/solo.

Probably why Im a Garcia fan.

Tribute acts are some of the most lame crap ever, even if it's Randy Hansen. I mean, c'mon, some of these dudes are 40-50-60-70 years old and still mimicing stuff they listened to at 13 years old. At this stage I could give a shit if I ever heard another Hendrix cover, especially since everyone covers the same handful of songs. Oh boy, Little Wing, AGAIN.

As much as I love Little Wing, I cant disagree.

I get the request for that song now and again with offers of 100 dollar tips but I get more joy turning down the request. It's not worth 100 divided by 4 or 5 people to play it. Twenty bucks to play a song I'm sick of hearing? Hell no.

Damn, if you were in my neck of the woods, you'd be a solo acoustic player with a looper playing the wineries and that $100 would be all yours!

Speaking of wineries, theres this band called Hot Dogs and Gin. Wife and I like to check them out.
Four piece. Led by father and son.
Son is 16, autistic, plays guitar and sings.
Kid fucking tears it up, honestly!
Hes a huge SRV fand and you hear it in his playing.

You normally don't get that ugly until after 55yrs old.
Neither one sounds anything like Hendrix.

I don't play for people who drink wine unless there is thousands involved.

I checked 'em out for a minute. Quite the young player there.

But if it’s a tribute Van Halen band, you’re taking your pants off with the excitement and they have to play the correct exact solos otherwise it’s a disappointment

This guy, in all my years of listening to people play Hendrix stuff or copy Hendrix stuff or whatever, this guy is the best I’ve ever seen and there’s a couple of reasons for that.
I’ve seen Randy Hansen as far back as 1978 a couple times and a few times after that. He’s really good but he’s passed his expiration date. I will say he takes on some of the most difficult Hendrix songs. Nothing like Little Wing or Red House or whatever so Randy’s got his place But this other guy is amazing.

I watched him play Red House. It wasn't good especially after he started singing.

Guy rips!
Watching Lover man and theres something "Uli" to me about his right hand. Maybe its his look and vibe?

C'mon Von, dont be negative (I didnt watch Red House).
Hendrix could play blues inside out. This guy just covers Hendrix tunes as a result his "blues" chops seem like he mostly got them by listening to too many bad live red house versions. Add bad vocals on top of it. Tribute acts suck anyways so....
