Yea, that’s exactly what politicizing is actually.

We’ve been over this before. Scientists do the research, and publish their findings.

“Journalists” take their findings and write about them in outlets people actually read, but almost always add their own opinions and biases to what they write.
The public then reads the articles that best align with their own inherent biases, usually based on a headline or snazzy thumbnail, and repeat the parts they found to be most important to their friends or whomever they are talking to.

At that point the message is largely different than what the data shows in the original scientific study.
And there are hundreds of years of research done by thousands of experts all over the world that very clearly shows that human activity is contributing to the change in climate that we accurately record everyday

Well that’s kinda vague with regards to what I said but whatever.

I still think me talking about the dumbasses who claim we have 2 years left before Armageddon is not politicizing it. Them saying that ridiculous stuff in the first place is.

The problem with it is that one side is trying to protect its profits and the other side is making lots of money off using it as a cudgel with which to beat their political enemies with. In other words if Al Gore would come out and talk straight about it instead of making provably incorrect dyer predictions while simultaneously using 10 times as much fossil fuel as a normal person does more people would listen and maybe a sensible solution that doesn’t involve a massive transfer of wealth and economic hardship for the majority of our country could be worked out.

No one is “ For” pollution or ruining all our fresh water, using up all the resources and overpopulation. But I’m not going to go into economic hardship so I can drive a car I don’t want that still runs on fossil fuel generated electricity and doesn’t perform how I need it to.

Make sense ?

But to touch on the extra you added, yea that’s science too. If people stayed away from eachother for 2 weeks it would have nearly killed the virus.

Realistically that was not possible though, so in comes politics to decide who can still move about and why. Some counties handled it better than others and some countries had a lot more die than the others.

So the “mantra” changed to “slow the spread” which is really where it should have stayed. Everything recommend, if done with good faith, would have slowed the spread, masks and vaccines included.

But then the politics and memes started flowing to the point where people didn’t understand why masks and vaccines were beneficial, and they clung to the extremes of their political sides. Anyone that says masks don’t help is equally as uniformed as someone who says a vaccine will 100% work.

You are just regurgitating stuff you read by someone else who read something someone said in a scientific paper. It’s a game of telephone.
Politics play to biases, just like the reasons you discount scientific research. That’s because you aren’t discounting the research, you are discounting someone else’s interpretation of it. More often than not, those interpretations are politically motivated, whether for red/blue divide or hoping for funding.
Funding is a crisis in science right now.

People need funding to do research

to get funding you need to be published.

To be published you need something exciting to stand out from the 3 million other scientific papers that are published every year.

So researchers are publishing findings before they go through the due process of peer review

And once it is published, all it takes is one person who doesn’t know any better to share it on Facebook and all of a sudden a bunch of people are unknowingly talking out their asses.

This doesn’t mean you should distrust science, it just means you should read with care. And reading with care does not include memes and tweets

Not one word of this has anything to do with what I said.

The fact remains that JD claiming river bed mud and other weather phenomena is a direct result of manmade climate change is NOT fact. In fact it’s pretty much what you accused me of in this post.

So to circle back, I stand by my original point. The one you don’t recall right now because you went off on a weird tangent.
