Yeah, the Culper mod came from me and my indecisiveness. My initial intention was to get a Patriot, but really liked the Loyalist too as it's more my flavor. Being torn between which one to get I looked at Nick and said "I have probably a stupid thought." "Could you put the Patriot high gain channel into the Loyalist?" Nick pulled the schematic to look at which component values would need to be adjusted and goes "Yup I can do that." While we were talking about it I said it should be named the Culper mod after Washington's spy ring; An American spy infiltrating the British ranks.Just noticed he had this in the description for the Loyalist now….
“The Loyalist comes with a channel 4 voicing option called the "Culper" mod. Keeping with the British vs. American Revolutionary War theme of the Modern Series, the "Culper" mod is named after the American spy ring that infiltrated the British ranks. Here, the mod gives the originally British-voiced channel 4 of the Loyalist a more American tone, with thicker bass and more scooped mids.”
This mod came out so good on my amp that he decided to offer it a standard option. It sounds just as described and how I wanted it, thicker bass and more more scooped mids like an American flavored amp. To me it gives more versatility than having duplicate high gain channels. The next step was Nick doing the opposite Mod on his Patriot. He put the Loyalist high gain channel into it and worked just as well as the Culper mod. He dubbed it the Benedict Arnold mod.
