I would assume most of the members below a certain age range use their phone for RT.

I use my desktop when I can for sure but primarily am on my phone.

I don't really use any other type of social media, so I scan RT through the day.

Well at work we get these things called breaks. And I have no laptop here, just a phone. So a couple smokes while checking out RT doesn’t seem strange to me. Dan just ran out of coherent things to say and he had to say something.

Just joking.

My current job, I get two 15 minute breaks a day and a lunch break of 30 min.

Not a lot but better than nothing.

I have had other jobs where I took zero breaks all day other than a quick lunch.

Seriously made me consider taking up smoking, or pretending I did so I could step out with the smokers and get those extra breaks in :P

Two 15 minute breaks usually, but I’m a foreman so I have some flexibility. This past week I didn’t get many breaks. Just depends on the job. Right now I’m waiting out a little bit of rain.
 
I’ve never known anyone who worked somewhere that smokers get extra breaks. I’m pretty sure that’s some bullshit made up by non smokers who just feel the need to make everyone as miserable as they are. 🤣🤣

Well, it definitely isn't made up.

Happened all the time when I managed a restaurant and also when I did HVAC work and when I did generator and motor repair.....

My parents and most of my family are insanely heavy smokers.

The job never considers them breaks, they get paid full time.

Most people who smoke understand the need for a cigarette through the day, it's just when people are doing it every hour that it bothered me.

I knew other people who would pretend to shit at work for 30 minutes minimum every day just to get an extra break.


I have to add that at the HVAC job, I DID just walk out with them and sit around for the extra rests.

Never seen it bro. When I worked inside I had to wait until my breaks to smoke. While others were eating or whatever, I was smoking.
 
@Floyd Eye Unrelated but I have a couple of older friends who bitch about not being able to smoke inside of grocery stores anymore.

Even though I have explained it to them, they cannot fathom why they can't do it any more.

They say it doesn't even really smell and people are just complaining.... WILD.

I was around when you could smoke in most places. The only complaining I ever did about it was when most bars went smoke free. That’s when I was still gigging. Now I don’t care. It’s a bar though. And really my only complaint about that was that bar owners weren’t the ones making that decision. It was county and city governments.

Smokers are like any other group. A certain percentage of them are assholes. Me, and I would guess Dan, are considerate of other people about it. I would never smoke in someone’s house unless they did and said it was okay. My house and my vehicles though, my rules. Even then though when I take one of my parents or other friends who don’t smoke somewhere I usually don’t smoke. Unless it’s a long trip then I will have one every once in awhile with the window down and holding it out the window, blowing the smoke out the window.

That’s been the case everywhere I’ve worked, mostly restaurants & manufacturing jobs.

You can claim you need to step outside to smoke a few times a day, and no one will question it. Sitting in the same spot, doing anything else, you’ll get chewed out immediately. Anywhere you work nights, it’s far more evident.

It’s becoming less common, it seems the younger generation has less smokers among them.
 
Talked to a friend yesterday, he just had cancer removed from his vocal chords. 55 yr smoker not surprised.
He has to go back in September to get the rest taken out.
Have no idea if it has spread. You don't really ask people with cancer that.
We lost an in-law last week, year long battle w/a brain tumor. RIP He was an ESPN Emmy winning producer.
His family has been thru alot.
And a friend of 20 yrs last week just turned 70. Height / weight proportional, no drink or smoke.
Dropped dead mowing the lawn. most of his friends are shocked.
