After one video by the 2 Peters, nothing was heard or seen again of Max, which seems strange because it appears to be a cool amp.
Who has played one? How does it compare to VH4?
 
It’s a cool amp but it’s not a vh4 . I’d just get a vh4 fr

Yes, I have the VH4.
I'm just curious about that amp which is the opposite of VH4 featurewise.
I did not find much about it, which is a bit sad. Maybe the amp slays, maybe not. I do not know.
But I guess it is a cool amp that somehow gets overlooked in the internet.
 
Is the Big Max basically a modded JCM 800 2205 ? Like VH4 CH2 ?
If I would find one cheap I would get one. I’m sold to the concept I described above.
 
I think so, but Peter surely would not agree that it is like a 2205. ;-)
 
The video sounds good, but I cannot tell how far this is really away from VH4 ch2.
It sounds a bit thinner and midrangey but that can be caused by anything in the recording.

So, I'm a Marshall guy. My favorite tones come from single channel Marshalls; my model of choice being the 2204 with a pedal in front. I also have a metal panel 4 hole JMP from 75'. My main live amp is a late 70's Marshall 2204 JMP, modded with an FX Loop (I have no idea who did the mod). I have been wanting something as an alternative/ backup in case the Marshall ended up in the shop. As soon as I saw Winter NAMM 2016 footage of the Diezel Big Max, my interest was piqued. 50 watts, single channel, bright switch, FX loop; all of the features were there. Mindless playing - please ignore. Are sick but bored and thought I would make this, since there aren't much info or clips of these.

It's a very warm sounding amp that reacts very well to your volume pot. When gain are above 70% in the high input it gets very warm - almost like class A. And reacts kinda like if a fuzz was in front of the amp. Clean is very nice and crunch as well. The high gain are no where near other Diezel amps I've had (which includes Hagen, Herbert, VH4) or any other amp I've had actually.

Change a lot between neck pu (Haussel P90) and bridge (Lundgren M6). And use...

Da ich bandmäßig seit knapp zwei Jahren kein Hi-Gain-Metal-Vollbrett mehr fahre -sondern eher ein rotziges Punk-Brett ohne Schnickschnack, kam vor gut nem Jahr bei mir der Wunsch nach einem Einkanaler auf. Habe einige angespielt, aber die haben mich alle nicht überzeugt. Ich wollte aber auch keine zig-tausend € ausgeben, denn downgraden fällt ja bekanntlich schwerer als upgraden.
Also habe ich vor einem halben Jahr bei Peter angefragt, ob er mir nicht einen Einkanaler...

Thanks for sharing, the amp sounds really good. I might get one to stay right beside my Herbert mk.3.
I love Modded 2203/2204 amps, the Big Max might be the amp I’m looking for.

a more raw Diezel also gives me GAS, but i don't like the two input concept.
even the shared EQ and non footswitchable ch2+/- on the herbert MK1 bothers me! i mean those are the best channels and i could do without ch3.
 
I have the Big Max and recently picked up a 2022 VH4. I love the Big Max, it’s more vintage voiced than the other Diezels I’ve tried and the cleans on the low input are incredible. It has been my ‘gateway’ Diezel as I then bought a Hagen, VH2 and now the VH4.

One of them will have to go but it’ll be fun comparing them and deciding.
