And now it's moot. Since July 1 2022 Indiana has had Constitutional Carry making it no longer necessary to get a permission slip from your state government to exercise your inalienable rights to keep and bear arms.
That's odd. Every online source I've found says a permit is still required. A visit to the sheriff's office may be required but they are not exactly a friendly helpful bunch. If i had an immediate drastic need to carry, I'd be more aggressive finding answers.

You are correct on this, green states are CC.

Indiana is green on this map. Indicating as I said, Indiana is permitless carry
Thanks for the info. Odd that you don’t NEED a permit but the steps are there if you want to apply for one anyway...who does that?

A lot of people. There are certain places you can carry with a permit but not without. Most importantly though is reciprocity with other states. So you can carry in any state that has a reciprocal agreement with Indiana. Also in some states a CCW permit allows you to forego the NICS background check when buying a firearm from an FFL.
