Hi people !! I am just thinking of getta a triple rectifier rev G for Jeremy of Groundzero for a mod and send it down to where i am at....

Before i buy the amp i would like to know if there are any small changes within the revG itself?

One which i eyeing on comes with a detachable power type, big front logo ... Serial R-0104XX

Am not too sure if this unit i looking at be one of the better unit serving a better platform for Jeremy to mod on.....

Hopefully this would serve another successful thread on Groundzero modded Triple rectifier amp....

The clips i hear just makes me go crazy over that top high end girth on the tight lowend !!!
As i search thru and am glad i did made the right choice over as mentioned Groundzero mod retains the DNA of a Recto ....

Hear on any comments here guys !!

There's really nothing significant that changes in the Rev G lineage. You're going to find amp to amp variances like with all the older stuff, that said Rectos tend to be more consistent than Marks here.

The one thing to know is that with the Gs, Triples are tighter than Duals.

Thanks for chiming in !! I was also thinking of doing a KT88 - el34, instead of el34 -6l6 tube swap... would anyone advise on such an idea of its gonna work out for triple rect with KT88 tubes?

Would the KT88 steer out of the tone of the rects ? Apologise all recto purist ...

I'm just gonna throw this out there...

The Rev G Triple Rectifier is a metal classic for a damn good reason. If you've never heard or played through one, then do yourself a favor and get it before you get it modded. They are huge, raw, percussive, monster high gain amps with a broad bandwidth and aggressive sound.

At best you might fall in love, and say nope baby you are perfect as you are. At worst if the stock sound is lacking to you, then once you have it modded you can have an objective opinion on whether or not the mods improved the amps range and tone in any real appreciable way for you.

Mmmm thats true... 😅😅 i probably getta the original if i like it at the end.... a modded and an original haha... thx for the advise !!

I own one of the last Triple G made. I wouldn't get it modified. If I wanted it tighter I would use a overdrive. It doesn't need one.
As mentioned above try it and see if you feel it needs to be modified.

Unlike the Dual the Triple had the same transformers pretty much since the beginning.

I just got a tremoverb modded by GZ and it’s worth it IMO. Truly the rev g is a dime a dozen, there’s still a ton of them floating around out there plus the 3 channel is basically the same, whether some like to admit it or not

Does it still feels and sound like a tremoverb thou? It retains its basic integrity dosent it?

It still sounds like a recto for sure, I would wager I could get it to sound close to a stock one with the switches and knobs. It is more clear and has more mids though and loses the mushy quality in favor of a more “organic” looseness when dialed to be more loose.

This all day.
All a two channel Recto needs is a clean boost and done. It’ll be huge, brutal, raw and nasty af.

I would not recommend it. Couple reasons.

1) The transformers aren't rated to take the idle current draw of big bottles.
2) Outside of the bedroom, 6L6 & EL34 just sound better for guitar frequencies than big bottles.

Also as the others have said, leave it stock & try various boosts. This gives you options rather than locking it in to one thing. The last Triple G I had was so good, I fucked it up when I had it modded (to Rev C specs).

These gents are giving you good advice.

Asking for a suit alteration before you've even tried the thing on might work sometimes, but it's hardly best practice. Just a silly analogy that might pay off for me later. A Recto with a boost can get similar tones to the video you posted, so it's really worth trying it first.

If you do decide to have it modded, you can ask for a little more of this, or less of that etc. That is, have it tailored to you. And boom - I'm here all week.

Thanks for the nice advise guys.... one thing,is the amp real slough? I really never played a rectifier before but i did jump right into the Fryettes and then wizard and subsequently a mark IV b all are keeper for me... .my bad was owning few diezels it just didnt work for me but VH4 was a good one...i do like the bogner xtc 101b (earlier mag version) for some reason...

Not sure if the mesa triple rect do hold up to these few amps i like.... and because of the loose bass response i hear from the net am taking this chance to send it down for Jeremy for tighten up work and still not loosing out its original goodness....

If you’ve never played a recto before it might be cool to check it out prior to having it modded but at the same time there’s basically no way you don’t like it after the mod, its much more flexible to suit what your going for and your actual guitar and cab setup.

Thats the word ?!! Hehe...am just afraid the stock would sound too bland and flubby...

One person's slow is another person's huge. Rectos have that huge wall of sound that not many amps have. If you tighten it up, it will lose it's original goodness.

If you want it tighter then use a boost and EQ.
