So *Velcro-Fly* convinced me to get an IR-D and a Seymour Duncan Powerstage 200 and both kick ass! Been really impressed and getting great tones.

Like I was telling him, I could use a tad more gain. I'm using my Keeley Noble Screamer and my Griffin Boris to boost and sounds great but need something with more gain, etc.

Any recommended clean boosts? I have the Friedman Buxom Boost on my radar and he mentioned Suhr. Right now, I'm getting gain close to my Orange Super Crush 100 using two clean boosts together. I'd rather use one boost with a lot of gain but doesn't color the tone too much. The IR-D has a boost as well that I can mix in when needed.

To me, the most usable "clean" boost (adds no color) is largely an EQ of some kind. The VFE Rocket or Standout. Empress Para EQ. Boss GE. Etc.

You want to be able roll off some highs and lows, otherwise just straight clean boosting gets woofy and fizzy.

I've done some of that in the past and have been somewhat successful but I really like having a lot more gain available.

Mxr classic od can give you some hair with the gain knob… as well as being a good boost. I have also been playing the shit out of the wampler nobels od mini copy that sandman hooked me up with. It’s lumped in with the Nashville twang crowd but that’s a disservice to that pedal. Once you figure out the eq on it because it does a weird kinda mids thing…it’s a killer piece…

Yeah would be nice to be able to control those weird mids a bit more, lol. I think the Buxom Boost can do that but have never played thru one.

That Mxr is the meanest od I have ever used though if that’s what you want. I don’t think I made it clear how gnarly it can get with the gain knob in my other post. I don’t think they are very pricey used.

Shur Koko Boost , the original two button version . I was on the fence with pedal due to its lack of EQ but I finally got one last year and I love it . Does the clean boost and the mid boost tighten up the bass with very little coloration to the tone

I think any kind of TS or Klon Klone would do. I love the the Mythos Mojnir or Griffon Chiron Klon and Airis Aggressive Screamer. An original Lovepedal Eternity is my favorite of all time, been on my board for about 20 years I think.

These two fly largely under the radar, but are amazingly flexible boosts that can be fine tuned to maximize the heavier side quite easily, and sound amazing.

The first one is based on the Maestro MPF-1, and the second is based on the Systech Harmonic Energizer, albeit with less range and significantly less output.

The OG Systech Harmonic Energizer is +55db, whereas the Outsider is more in the +35db range if I recall correctly. It's more boost/OD, and the OG gets up into nasty filtered fuzztortion tones into a totally clean amp.

I was thinking about getting a Keeley Manis which is his take on the Klon. I guess it has some modern features. Ive never owned a Klon.

Holla at Wayne…he will hook a brother up. Pride month is over but if you use the code “you go girl “ he will probably still give you the rainbow 🌈 warrior discount…

I have a couple of Buxom Boost clones in stock ........ very cool boost ..... the ability to take the tone stack in and out of the circuit is awesome !

I'm currently developing and will soon be launching a small pedal company. My first entry will be a clean boost. Unity is somewhere around 10 O'Clock and full balls to the wall really spanks a clean amp or cleans up and tightens high gain. One knob, one solution. Works similar to how a Fortin 33 does, but imho it's a lot more usable. It tames the high end and tightens the low chunk. IMHO the Fortin 33 only sounds good with low tuned guitars, this works with all. Entirely different circuit though.

I have PCB boards in production and I'll be launching a run probably September. That is if the WIMA caps I use come back in stock. I'll make a bigger post when I wrap them up, but if you're interested let me know.

(Also I'll be changing the graphic, it will be similar, just the character will be different. I don't want to get a C&D or get sued from a litigious comic book brand.. I have not sold any with this exact graphic, this is my personal pedal.)
