War Pigs

Nice job brother.

You know we're getting old when you can do War Pigs at a winery gig. One of the reasons I disbanded my hard rock cover band about 10 years ago is because I thought at some point I would have to do retirement community gigs and thrashing around doing Deftones and RATM covers seems like a good way to break a hip. :-)

The first gig I ever played we got booked after sitting in during some band's break at this bar. It was a blues band so we played an original blues song and the owner booked us for the next Friday and Saturday. Opening song Friday night was War Pigs. The owners about shit.

ha ha when I worked as a Respiratory Therapist on a Vent unit at a Nursing home, occasionally I would hear The Allman Brothers over head. Kinda scared me with the end is near kinda thing :eek:

Lol ... I don't normally play OZZY or stuff that heavy at the Winery gigs but the staff was asking me to play it so I did.

I also did a Led Zeppelin thing . I played 'Thank You" 'Houses of the Holy" Misty Mountain Hop" and then I did just the solo's' of ...
"Moby Dick"
"'Whole Lotta Love"
"Heartbreaker"
"The Rover"
and I ended that Led Zeppelin set with 'The Song Remains the Same"
I'v e got that Beatbuddy programmed with such a wide range of music It's kinda mind boggling. :LOL:

It was spectacular and they loved it.

"War Pigs' was the last song of the gig. It got a little sloppy but whatever.


Normally I play happy fluffy Winery Music 🍷 :m17:

Seems like a cool little gig. One of the other reasons I disbanded my fairly successful, 3 piece hard rock cover band about a decade ago is because my subs were 140 lbs a piece, my PA racks were heavy as fuck, My rig is an SVT II non pro with an Ampeg 810 and my drummer had a kit so large I used 13 mics on it. Don't get me wrong, it sounded fucking glorious, but it's a lot of shit for 2 guys to load in and load out every night. By the way I say 2 guys because my guitarist/singer was not allowed to touch any of my shit. Ever. lol

I totally get it.
I had a 3 Piece Power Trio ( occasionally added a keyboard player ) for 25 years, Then I had an Acoustic duo with occasionally an added drummer for 8 years.

In my area the Band thing sucks. You're lucky if you make $100 a man. I use to drag tons of gear to gigs but towards the end I said fuck it and brought just 1 QSC K10 for the mains ( Occasionally 2 QSC K10's for the mains ) and 1 QSC K10 for the monitor thats it. That was too much work as it is. Plus a couple guitars, Deluxe Reverb and a Pedal Board.

The Solo thing is so much better and I make roughly $300-$500 per gig. Wineries are filled with beautiful women and guys that like to tip. It's a great gig. I feel lucky being able to do it.

Yeah, we were always in it for the glory. And titties and beer. In the end it was usually paying about $300 a man. And me being a nice guy never took an extra cut for owning and running the PA.

One of these days I may try the solo thing. I'm really a bass player, but I'm not a complete hack on guitar. Maybe a half hack.
