Good news. Huge fan of the guy since the early 70's.
He damaged himself from building pedals I believe….repetitive motion injuries possibly… almost quit playing…..What was wrong with him??

I'm surprised that Frank doesn't wind his own pickups to be honest.Perfect timing! Frank and I were talking a day or two ago. He told me his favorite pickups are the Lindy Fralin Twangmasters. (This particular guitar only has 1 Twangmaster, in the neck position). He also installed a set of the Twangmasters in his number 1 guitar over a year ago. He's in love with those pickups and highly recommends them. He uses the normal output Twangmaster in both positions. He digs 'em because now he can get a much strattier tone from his SG. He said that as far as noise goes, they're the quietest humbuckers he's ever played.
He also had very high praise for the Lindy Fralin noiseless P90 pickups.
Saw them in 1978 and recorded them. Still up on YouTube I see.

I think a few guys around here would spring for a set of Marino-buckers!!!The man is an electronics genius, and he certainly could do it if he wanted to. I think I'll ask him why he didn't dive in to that realm.
