I prefer the SLO II to the drect and 6505. I is obvious they share a lot of dna when comparing, but imo the slo is the better. I sold the drect which was way to much saggy low end (cool for sludge though) and i will probably sell the 6505 as well, as i think it is scooped compared to the SLO, a bit more gain, but a somewhat soft attack.
The SLO is just more growly in the mids and much more fun when boosted.
I prefer scooped mids and big bass 😀

The Drect is best with a boost.

I get you, i am also a fan of more scooped mids, but it is the somewhat soft attack of the 6505 that will probably gonna make me sell it.

Yeah, the drect works with a boost, but only with a boost (and extreme settings). The SLO II sounds good with or without a boost, using the tight switch. All my opinion only of course.

I just felt like the SLO was really sitting in between the drect a one end and the 6505 at the other.

I think the Powerball sounds similar to the 6505, but with a tighter, more immediate attack.

Interesting, i was wondering about that one. Would love to see an EVH 5150 module

So after you said that, i got even more curious about the Powerball module, so I ordered it to give it a try...and i have no idea how you would think they sound similar. While the 6505 is scooped, the Powerball is bloated in the mids in a really unpleasant way, makes it sound terrible in my opinion.

The Killer kali is still unobtainium in Germany. Ordered it about 2 weeks ago when it was supposely "available in 2-5 days", since then, it got delayed to mid september...

Would you guys recommend the friedman be deluxe for metal?

I keep the EQ switch down in the least mids mode and keep the mids knob about 9 o'clock, so it is very scooped and similar to the 6505 like that.

Yeah, I don't like the mids switch in the upper position at all.

BE-DLX is like a less aggressive Killer Kali. When the gain is maxed, I like it for clean 90s metal, like a Youthanasia sound.

yeah tried this position as well of course, but i guess this module is just not for me. Uberschall is still king, by a long shot.

Ordered one today as they got a good price on a b stock, let´s see. Still can´t wait to get my hands on a killer kali.

Yeah i am in the same boat. I bought my SYN2 earlier this year with priority to get the VHT modules and the Killer Kali. It really gets frustrating checking every 2-3 days with Thomann and once the "counter" reaches "2-5 days" it goes back to several weeks.
Right now i have the VHT Pittbull, the Diezel Herbert and the Bogner Ecstasy.

Yes a lot of people say the Uberschall (or lets put the correct name Überschall hehe) is pretty much the best metal module for the synergy. On one hand i would really like to buy it, on the other hand i have a Rev Blue Uberschall amp so it kind of sits pretty low on my buying list as i first want to buy the stuff i don't really have in any form yet.

Yeah, the Powerball is probably one of my least used modules, but I think I just jive more with more forgiving feeling preamps. I do like the Powerball for a tight Fear Factory type sound. It is also one of the few modules that can do a true clean and high gain on the 2 channels.

The Uber is really good also. I like it and the Drect for the bigger low mid thing.

I am not sure if I have a favorite. It depends on my mood for the day, lol. I have 8 high gain modules.

I just got the 20IR and Ecstasy and it sounds great but the module has a flaw where the switches and gain on one channel, effect the other channel so it is not working for me as a 2 channel amp and I'm sending it back. I don't think any others have this issue. If you keep the gain similar it works but if you want low gain on the blue channel the red channel sounds terrible. The Uberschall should be here tomorrow as a replacement.
Just FYI that is the way the amp is, gain structure switch affects ch’s 2&3

Had Tone King land last week and a R5 midi footswitch land today. Was getting annoyed with having to hit the button on the SYN-2 to change channels.

I didn't have any clean modules and the Tone King seemed like the way to go. The Plexi isn't cleaning up nearly as much as I thought it would even with any boosts turned off. The Plexi sounds great, just still a bit hot.

How’s the Tone King module?

I currently have the Uberschall, Powerball, IICP, 6505, and DRECT. I've also owned the Pitbull, Deliverance, Ecstacy, Savage, 800, and both Soldanos. Needless to say, I've tried a lot of the high gain modules! The Uberschall is my favorite for metal, so much that I sold my Uber Ultra after comparing the two. Channel 1 is this viscious Marshally upper mid monster of a channel that absolutely crushes. Channel 2 is even gainier and more mid angry like a Mark. Both channels can get ultra tight and crushing. This module is reason enough to try Synergy.

I basically boost every amp and module that I own, but the Powerball module is an exception - boosting it is just way over the top. The treble pot is very aggro and I'll keep it around noon compared to most other modules where I crank treble. I don't find the mids overbearing necessarily, but I do dial them back a bit. This is probably my second favorite module for techy, surgical riffing.

The IICP is also killer, and scratches the Mark itch, but I find it a bit tricky to dial in. It's generally woofy and can lose clarity quickly if you push the gain and treble. I keep bass and mids at zero, gain and treble around 1 oclock, and boost the fuck out of it. Volume one should stay pretty high however.

I've got a lot more to say about the other modules but don't want to turn this into a narrative. So far the 3 above are my favorites.

How’s the Tone King module?

I didn't love the Tone King with my #1 LP, but that guitar is a bit hot and bottom heavy. Second night with other guitars was really good.

The blackface channel was a great clean or pushed clean. The tweed'ish lead channel can be a bit tricky to dial in. With humbuckers anyway. Push the gain too high and it crashes out. Get it right to the edge and riding the guitar volume knob was pretty sweet. Have been wanting a single coil guitar again and I think this module would kill with a strat or tele.

The Uber is most likely my next module. Currently own, or have owned, most of the others you mentioned. Your description of channel one having a vicious Marshally thing peaked my interest more.

I would definately be interested in your opinion on all other modules you have played/owned so far. The uber is absolutley killer, interesting though you even sold the uber ultra. Would love to own one, i like amps with lot of switches. But those things cost 4400 Euros here, never gonna spend that much on an amp.
the Uber module with the pre eq switches is vicious enough.

I've heard several people say they sold their amp after getting these modules. They said they preferred the module to the amp.
