I'm sorry to ask this, but can someone tell me how to disable subscribing to every new thread on the Rig-Talk board? I somehow screwed things up so that I get notifications about every new thread created.

Yup, account preferences.

You should only receive notifications for threads you've either participated in or have marked to be watched.

Whilst researching an answer for you, @BABMusic, I think I may have stumbled upon the answer and it's something I didn't know was possible.

After seeing this in preferences:

I realised that it must be possible to watch an entire sub-forum.

Here's what we get when we hit the "watch" tab atop every sub-forum:

So I assume you've "accidentally" selected new threads, new messages or both in the above pop-up.

That's all I've got mate. :dunno:

HTH

I looked through 'Preferences' and didn't see anything that would fix your problem @BABMusic :dunno:

Not an expert on forum software code, let alone XenForo.

MM - if he is getting an email on Every Single Thread opened on R-T, wouldn't that be a bigger issue? Also, consider moving this to Feedback in case it is happening to others and @nero needs engagement.

(Just trying to help, not trying to be forum police/moderator)

Exactly what I suspected; great!

@311boogieman he can change the email-notification thing in preferences. I've always had it turned-off for quotes and new posts 'cause I prefer to have everything in one place (the alerts list under the bell icon atop the page).

Creating this thread in order to move this brief OT discussion from a thread in OTC, ironically.

Oh yeah I know. I have mine set to my liking - which is mostly 'off'. The default I think is mostly 'on'. :dunno:

But I thought BAB was saying he was getting notifications on every single thread WITHOUT subscribing? Which would have been weird.

Looks like he accidentally hit Watch Forum

Almost forgot:

Ironically I keep getting notified on this thread even though I’m not watching it 😉
Well obviously you're registered as watching it now, having replied 'n' all.

As for previously, could it be that you'd accidentally set this sub-forum to be "watched"?

Well yeah, same goes for the OP but it turned out he'd accidentally enabled watching for a sub-forum. :dunno:

Got a notification that BABmusic started a new thread and have never seen that before. I'm not following any members or anything like that, so maybe something is/was weird with the forum recently?

Are you following BAB? That's a possibility anyway.

Check that you haven't enabled "watch" for the sub-forum that the thread was in, just for good measure.

Only thing I can think of.

No, thought that might have been it if I accidentally clicked on that or something at some point, but I'm not following anyone or this forum. Looks like it was this thread that the notification was from.

A-ha! I think I can explain it Sister Lisa:

I extracted / moved the first 6 posts here from OTC. You'd prolly particimapated / watched the thread from whence they came.

I explained the origin of the thread in Post #7

Hard to say now if I accidentally clicked watch now that I've posted in the thread. Just thought I would share given the OP's issue.
