force yourself to focus on learning the programming stuff. it'll make you forget about some of the bad stuff because you'll be focused on learning. you'll get through it, just start doing it. that's the best i can tell you bud.

Look at the entry level tech jobs in your country; banking and government seem to be where the tech jobs. Make a list of the skills / role requirements, then spend time doing introductory level reading or courses, Python, database administration, database programming, data analytics (this is a big area for AI today, not sure about the future for human workers here; and cyber security which has many options...

you want to find what's in demand and looking for entry level hires; then look at what you have interest and aptitude for. you're looking for what will get you in the door on the quickest and easiest path for you.


A quick search, probably not the best, but it's a start:

Python and Database = Database programming in python




If database admin or database programming are of interest, there are common aspects between all relational databases, however you will need to pick one to focus on; the market leader in relational database is Oracle Database followed by Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL (owned by Oracle), but you need to determine which is in demand in your country / area.

for example, getting into Oracle Database, there are many areas: Oracle DBA, there's not only SQL, but PL/SQL, Oracle Autonomous Database, Oracle Exadata, Oracle Cloud,...

they are the lifeblood of just about everything the world runs on these days

agree. data is the center of everything; everything else is about managing, protecting, analyzing, tuning, etc. data; for data programming is what I called SCRUDI = Search, Create, Read, Update, Delete, Information - core/basic actions on data / data lifecycle.

To use data, there are programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, Go, and SQL etc.

Data is also a key focus area of AI, so future work will be impacted by AI, but it's going to be many years before AI takes over IMO.


That said, it's up to the job market local to @CrystalSky and aptitude and interest. You want to get that first job, then you can use it to move into new areas in the future; early in IT you have flexibility, until you have many years in specializations where you have to stay to get paid the most... for example, for me those areas were: AI, OO programming, UI programming (JavaScript), and database programming (mostly around Oracle Application Express (APEX), PL/SQL, SQL and JavaScript).

100% agreed, the amount of money that can be made just transitioning manual excel processes to "automated" processes using python is insane.

nothing but money to be made out there, once you understand flat files/relational databases. the number of c-suite people and decision makers who do good to open excel without crashing their computer is immense

@CrystalSky it may not be the industry of choice for you, but if you spend the time, you will be successful....and by successful i mean make a shit ton of $$$'s

I managed to follow steps from chatgpt and put a script it wrote for me to work, automating the download of 150 songs for me. Am I a future IT star? 😁
