Yeah, I am way old but I still can't fathom a job that lets you spend that much time on a phone. Not just the time but the lack of attention to what you are getting paid for. It must be some kind of gobernment job that pays you to watch paint dry.

I’m on my phone pretty much all day at work. Way more so than when I am home.
I wrangle contractors for properties so if I’m not communicating with a contractor I’m communicating with a project manager or property manager.

I ain't way old yet and even when I worked for other people I couldn't fathom my employers that were willing to employ people who actively sabotaged their business just so they could say they had a warm body in a kiosk someplace. Even the good employees were on their phones all day. It's just a changing world. I used to get pissed at guys who checked their phones on stage at dirty sixth club gigs but shit, they were trying to book more gigs so what can you say?

I am going to assume again that it is for the state or gobernment in some way.

If you were my employee I would take your smartphone away or fire you. You don't nearly spend enough time or attention to your job.

You're not wrong but it's a two way street in most cases IME. Trash employees expecting a fat salary and trash employers expecting enthusiastic slaves who work for peanuts. I'm pretty much done working side jobs for other people that aren't named VonBonfire unless they are family or old friends of mine. I've seen enough.

I do not work for a state or a government. I don’t even work in Massachusetts most of the time.
I wouldn’t be able to do my job without a smart phone really.
It’s also not a 9-5 job. If I have to be on one site until 11am and the next one at 12:30 what is wrong with fucking around on my phone when I’m not on anyone’s time but my own?

I get that you can’t ever come back at the things I say with facts, reasoning or information, but throwing shit at the wall to try and pick me apart should really be embarrassing for you at this point, especially if you are as old as you claim to be

I know even some of the big businesses are run by imbeciles but the day will come where that won't fly anymore and working hard just to feed a family will be a luxury.

If I still had youngens, I would be stacking gold and silver for them like all the wealthy politicians and businessmen are doing right now.

I couldn't do the on call stuff like you and Smash do. It's like getting assigned homework starting in 3rd grade. Once I'm out the door don't call me cause I can't hear the pager page or the phone ring over the roar of my amp. A cousin of mine did water treatment on the NV side of Tahoe. That pager was basically an ankle monitor for his employer.

The only time I ever had cash to invest I bought a house+land. Strike that, I bought a meth trailer on land and built the house. I'm not market savvy like a lot of you guys are so I just wanted no rent and real property.

Water is tough. I’m a licensed water operator for potable water but that job ebbs and flows by the season with summer camps and ski areas and such. I help out with a treatment facility but thankfully I’m third in line for those after hours calls and it rarely gets to me.
I definitely do a lot of posting while waiting for water to run long enough to take a sample
