Anyone completely change to the synergy rig?

Given the Marshall leak, I think I'm going to skip the 800 module for now and go wirh the Killer Kali to start with. I love every demo I've heard.

I reckon the JMP module will soon be followed by a JCM module... maybe with both 800 and 900 modes? A Jubilee module would be a must-have for me as well.

I went synergy very briefly. I got the head and a few modules and was really digging it.

But then I got a Kemper and it was getting and still gets most of play time.

So I sold the Synergy stuff, but honestly I think about giving it an actual try again pretty often.

Yo! New guy alert...gotta introduce myself (later)
Just got a Synergy 20ir head and the Killer Kali module.

Did I COMPLETELY change over? Not really, I'm running a modeler in 4 Cable Method. I'm using it primarily as a midi switcher and to provide effects. Once in awhile, I'll use a modeling program instead - it runs into the FX return of the lil' 20 watt head, so just the power stage is being utilized on that patch. It's my Nile Rogers tone (I'm using an Ampero II Stage - more about that later)

Anyway - the Killer Kali is not just for metal, it's VERY versatile. You can get a nice crunch tone, and go to full CHUG. The clean channel in the gives me a good 3rd channel too - it's a nice setup. I had no idea the Kali could cover nice Plexi tones and lower gain AC/DC type stuff. It's nice to pick soft and get clean and then get all the grit when you hammer the strings. Almost like a tube amp...wait...

Now, in a pinch, if I needed to just run...I could take my pedalboard and I'd be fine. But, I prefer to run thru an amp. I cannot let that go, and I have done gigs with NO amp, it went fine, I just choose to have the amp.

I prefer my preamp and power amp to match; even back in my rack days I had matching preamps and power amps. That's one reason why I'm have mostly amp heads and combos designed to work together.

I still have an Engl E850/100 rack power amp with 6L6, sold my Engl E530 preamp...I use it with my ISP Theta Michael Sweet gear but I'd rather have EL34 power. I use my TriAxis with the Engl power amp as well.

Nothing wrong with mixing and matching; but I'd like to see Synergy offer EL34 power amps as an option.

I have a friend with the Theta ISP, he loves that, and it does sound really good.

Before this rig, I was always a rack guy. ADA preamps/power amps. But, they are getting older by the day and are subject to breakdowns....usually at a gig, never rehearsal. So, I had to update my stuff or deal with the issues of old gear.

I ended up getting a bargain modeler (didn't want to commit too much) and was running the ADA preamps for awhile, until my MP-2 started acting up. That was it, time to shop for another amp head.

My last head was a Hughes & Kettner Grandmeister deluxe 40. It was okay, I really gravitated towards the midi programmability. That was nice. Before that, I ran a Peavey Classic 20mh with a Boss MS-3. That was a sturdy rig for a long time before I got the H&K.

The Peavey taught me that 20 watts is plenty. In fact, I played a gig where I found myself really cranking the volume...which was unusual.....Turns out, I had the head set to 5 watts! I played the whole gig at 5 watts, with the amp almost dimed. haha - figured it out when I was tearing down.

I have the ISP Theta Pro and MSX, both Michael Sweet editions; reminds me of my rack days; and it's 80s in a box. It's very similar to the MP-2 with pre-EQ and post-parametric EQ.

I used ADA back in the day too; I had the MP-1, MQ-1, B200S, and 4 of the 2x12 vertical splitstack cabs; I replaced my MP-1 and MQ-1 with a MP-2 which I still have, and it was still working a few years ago. I was a long time member of the original ADA Depot forum before new management. The MP-2 weak point was the screen, and there was a replacement that is no longer available.

I actually had 2 MP-2, one for a backup. Also used an Alesis QuadraVerb for effects which is long gone.

Here is my consolidated ADA rack before I sold everything except the MP-2

I also played bass, and had the full ADA Bass rig, I had a Trace Elliot GP12SMX preamp, and sold it to get the MP-11 which I still own, and still works great.

Yup, I used a Quadraverb for years with my ADA rigs. I still have: MP-1 Classic, MP-2, MT-200, MT-100, a B200s and some other miscellaneous rack bits (see pic). And, I'm part of the 'new management' of the Depot.

My name is Dante, I rebuilt the Depot from scratch when Jurrie passed and nobody could figure out how to revive the old Depot files. Now, a few of us maintain it and help folks fix their gear.

BTW; you can get a replacement screen for your MP-2, it's the same as the Quadraverb screen! Look up MJMP's shop, he has some, and some guy on Reverb sells them

I love your bass rig!

fyi i have the dry signal for my WDW rig plugged into the return of the mark III head, taking advantage of the graphic eq, presence and simulclass amp magic. highly recommended, as is a mesa 2:90 for stereo wet power.

however, experimenting with the Syn 2 looped in series as a channel selectable extension of the boogie’s clean/R2/lead preamp modes, like the manual suggests trying, did not sound very good to me.
