Im down from work for a while, im wanting to start making some custom plugs for my pedal board. I like the looks and size of square plugs, anyone use these? I also see people using mogami 2319 wire? Is this about what I should be looking to buy, or is there something better, easier to use, etc. Any help appreciated. Pic is my board, im gonna add an isolated power supply to it, and probably a bunch more pedals. Completely undecided on the three rack spaces as of now. Definitely open for some suggestions on those.

Go with BTPA cabling, it smokes Mogami IMO and I have tried both.

For patch cables: CA-0678 Link: (https://btpa.com/CA-0678.html )

The ends I like that are very small and work extremely well are the SP400s, which are also on their site.

For what it's worth, I also replaced all of my instrument cabling with BTPA cables as well. I like Switchcraft ends on those personally.

CA-0446 is the instrument cable.

You'll probably want a Cioks power supply. I have a Zuma, which I love, but the Cioks provide more versatility overall I think.
Dude! Thanks for the response, I'll definitely be looking to order some of that wire and ends! Ive been looking at power supplies. My Sweetwater guy is dragging his ass lol, I need at least an 8 spot. Trying to keep it under $200 if possible. SW card 0% haha. I will look at a Cioks.

I like to get the best bang for my buck, but I never want to settle tonally. The BTPA stuff has delivered on all accounts.

Best of luck on your wiring/board!

It has been a bit since I have looked at supplies. At the price range TrueTone comes to mind but it has been awhile since I looked.

Be careful, you want certain type of switching and the like for optimal performance.

I ordered a Ciocks superpower bundle today thru Sweetwater. Used my SW card, 0% for 48 months it was $430 out the door. Im hoping to order all the square plugs and BTPA wire on Friday and get some wiring done.

I recently gave some solderless plugs a shot when wiring up my FM9 board. I think they’re essentially like George L’s were, same skinnier wire and small jacks-

I dug them enough I ordered another kit, they’re like $35 for 10’ of cable and 10 jacks. I want to try them in my corksniffing rig of fuzzes and the Plexi50 where if anything is amiss it’ll be noticeable pretty quickly.

Crosby Solderless Pedalboard... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07S3158LV?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

They’re pretty damn sturdy, too. Once the screw is screwed down they’re not coming out any easier than a soldered cable.

Ive been using George L's for years and have yet to have one fail on me. Have not built a board yet for my fractal stuff, but so far I only have added the exp pedals for my FC12, and need TRS for that.

I am just not into solderless stuff, though I get why people are - for ease of assembly/ease of function.

I find that the smallest solderless connectors are still quite a bit larger than my SP400s. I personally prefer the reliability of a good solder, but to each their own.

"they’re not coming out any easier than a soldered cable." I mean, for the argument of sheer reliability, solder is going to be the winner every time. Gets shaken or moved, maybe a screw gets rocked loose? Solder joins everything as a single unit.

Yeah, you could have a bad solder joint or something, but that is operator error and not really equipment failure.

At that price, if they are working well, you got a good deal!!!

Also, soldering takes time, a bit of skill, the investment in tools.... you are NOT going to beat $35 I guess is what I am getting at, even if you do get the extra bit of reliability.

Kudos on a good patch cable find/score!

If I had to build from the ground up - that would have been my choice as well. Excited to see how this build turns out!

Check out Mogami 2314 cable. It’s newer and an upgrade to the classic 2319 in my opinion

Not as dark, closer to a cable straight into an amp

I’ve always cut my cables to length and re-soldered the ends for my previous boards, this definitely wasn’t the first board I’ve done. (The expression pedals on the one posted were cut to length and soldered since they’re TRS cables). I use so many zip ties that I’ve never had any cable get yanked out of a jack, but this is my first solderless board, so we’ll see how it goes.

The Ciocks super power bundle showed up today! Waiting on the square plugs and wiring. Then I gotta figure out the pedal order etc. This should be fun.

What an absolute dream build dude - can't wait to see the finished product.
