Well, Mr IPlayBetterThanAllOtherCompetitorsWithoutEvenHavingToTry, aka @Fusionbear, you won it brother.

Our new friend @Anonymouse must be taking part in a local insurrection at the radio stations to have pop music removed from the airwaves and neo soul broadcast far and wide and couldn't appoint a new Rig Talk Neo Soul Guitarist Of The Week champion, so the responsibility fell upon me. I pray your reign goes well. It will be up to you to choose a backing track for us to attempt to emulate you and your superior skills should we decide to challenge your time on the throne.

@SI @Anonymouse (if you haven't been thrown in jail) @Devin @Dan Gleesak @DanTravis62 @Smash @VonBonfire @Techdeth, I think I got all of you. Get ready to throw down your noodles and attempt to gain immortality and legendary status amongst your peers.

Also, as your previous Kimg, you don't even have to use the dorian or lydian modes to construct juicy phrases, you can use any of them, or dare I say, pentatonics if you so desire.

I already have to spend a huge percentage of my time on RT listening to lame, gay music because that's what 90% of what guitar players listen to and play. John Mayer, trans icon Tammy Hanson, Polyphia, or the same EVH tracks everyone has made 4073 YouTube vids about. My mental health is dependent on not getting any more bad music overload.

I'm not trying to be offensive, it's just annoying and I'm already at full capacity - especially after that new Extreme track a couple weeks ago, I'll be set for months.

Great solos add to the music. They arent the music.

@VonBonfire nails this in blues. I will refrain from commenting too much on the neo soul thing you are doing out of my own gnorance on the subject. The little I have heard has irritated me about as much as it does @Techdeth or @DanTravis62

These noodles we've been posting are just practice for picking up cougars that get moist for the likes of Michael Bolton and Richard Marx.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm too musically dumb to play anything else but blues is what I feel down in my neo-soul so that's that. I'm headed to Arkansas thursday for some King Biscuit festival action so I'm pretty stoked about that and then headed down to Clarksdale for the Pinetop homecoming jam, which ought to be pretty killer. Be nice to get outta TX for a few days.

@Techdeth claimed he's going to submit some neo-soul shred and dominate the competition so hold onto your hats. I have my doubts about him just walking away with it with fusionbear around. Dude owns a Suhr and lives in L.A, that alone pretty much puts him in the lead out the gate. @Dan Gleesak isn't very far away from snatching a crown one of these days either. @Devin started getting involved, and is probably gonna tighten the screws down on just letting people walk away with easy crown acquisition. It's more about some good fun and something besides root-fifth riffage for a change. I never meant to piss off certain members with it, there are just a few killjoys here apparently.
 
Just wait till Vonny gets it stuck in his head that neo funk is next. Most of us are too white, we'd never have any success.

My early playing career was in thrash bands. My high school buddies and I still have our punk/thrash/metal cover band called H8TORADE and we play when we can.

My music education was really weird. My dad was a guitarist in a Mexican trio and a mariachi band. He put me in a classical conservatory at 9 years old. But I gravitated to metal and thrash in my teens. My older brother was a jazzer and ended up teaching in a local university. He had private lessons with Ted Greene and Joe Pass. He tried to teach me jazz. I failed pretty miserably....lol... I preferred Michael Schenker, Gary Moore, Uli Roth, Randy Rhoads, and a little EVH ...

These days, four decades later, I'll play in just about any genre. I love music.
 
Kimg Carl speaks the truth. We're all just having fun with it and making music. Whether it's cheesy or not, I've seen more music uploaded in the last month than I can recall in my time here.

Thanks Smash. A handful of beers in the HD parking lot told me you ain't no killjoy! The whole neo soul thing was just kinda a joke that a buncha guys ran with for fun and now guys are posting clips and stuff. It's all in good fun, never meant to piss a couple members off with it but I guess when they start with the school bus ride treatment I tend to push back a lil outta old habit.
