What’s up dudes?! Been away a little bit. Life been nuts, then of course water damaged happened to my house… so been dealing with that. Everything back to normal, so figured it would be a good time to jam. Anyway, got asked about this one a lot… some guys called me downright insane because I say the MTL boosted can hang with the hell razor so here’s this… what do you guys think?

Hell yeah, awesome demo! They're both awesome amps.

Seems like my thoughts on them kind of match yours, too. The HR sounds like an idealized high gain tone with some extra clarity and zing in the treble/presence ranges, similar to what you hear in vintage Marshall amps. The MTL2 sounds like an idealized high gain tone with a more Recto / Uberschall style top end that's more balanced with the other frequencies and maybe even just a bit more crunchy.

Honestly can't go wrong with either one. They both sound incredible. The MTL2 sounds like a benchmark modern high gain tone, the measuring stick by which most other amps would be judged, and the HR sounds like it comes from the same place but tuned for just a bit more zing up top. Sounds like it's entirely personal preference which one any given dude would go for.

Also, man I'm sorry about the water damage, that's awful. Glad it sounds like you got things cleaned up though, that's great news.

Sorry for your water issues dude, glad its sorted. Been there, it sucks.

Splitting hairs IMO. Both sound good. I sold my HR in favor of the Hybrid I still have.

MTL ror me in this comparison. HR sounds a little splatty on chords, something I just don't like. Killer tones as always.

What else is there to try ? I’ve seen nothing new lately ?
Eh it’s mostly old stuff. Still want to try a Prometheus, couple other things. My thought is get rid of the things that are close enough to each other. I honestly play a few of my amps more than any others, so it’s time for some to go.

Got another video coming shooting the hell razor out with the uber ultra talking about that
If you can get your hands on one, shootout the MTL vs the GZA Hellion. I've got both and think that would be a great comparison... actually probably the HR too

Prefer the MTL in this video, low end sounds more clear to me. Don't know how much of that is due to the boost (never played a Duality) but I feel like those types of boosts help with low end clean up.

Hellion is one of those I want to try. Everything Jeremy does is solid.

Yeah, at one point I flick the boost off to show the difference between unboosted, duality, and amps internal boost. I think hitting the MTL with that tc style circuit just works great. Naturally I’m drawn to amps with big low end that I hit with the tc style, just always been my sound. Then recently got into the Marshall thing and went completely bananas there lol.
