My hand truck is far more expensive than what I need it for, but yolo. I used to dream of carting two fridges - two trucks at once, up steps, like Michelangelobatio's National Removals INC, but that was when I was young and naive. Now I'm just happy with some solid Nu-rubber wheels and a TIG-welded frame with some tasteful relicing. Ratchet straps are for folks with neck tattoos and anime girl looks.

I liked it, just wanted it to be louder. Pardon my chutzpah but I liked it enough to slobber over it.

On topic, I concur with thegreatgreen and floydeye. Felt it when I was starting out, like a poor carpenter blaming his tools. But over time and once I got a decent rig I quit thinking about lacking the tools to execute and just focusing on how to.

Right now I'm sloppy af because I have barely been practicing, and playing. When I play all the time yeah. That said I have never been a shredder or crazy good, but good enough to create music I love, and to play others' music that I love.

Yeah, I should probably sell like 50 to 75% of my gear. My skill is very disproportionate to my collection.

I can play the gear but cannot always dial it in well enough to do it justice. limited/ untreated space, poor IR choices etc etc.
Lately I cannot afford much of it either.
it’s only 3 amps and 3 cabs i’d get anyway and until I have space to use them and time to set up mic’ing etc , fractal is more than good enough

My neighbor has two Ferraris, a Lamborghini and a few other expensive sports cars that he keeps in a separate garage condo. He flips supercars like people here flip amps. Pretty sure he drives in the left lane when he’s not passing and I know he’s not even a professional race car driver. Definitely not enough driving skill to own those cars!

No one is saying people with money cannot own the gear they want. As a matter of fact the vast majority of people who get to try fancy gear only get to do so buying it used, courtesy of the people who can afford it new.

I would hope everyone in this thread will agree that people should spend their hard earned money however they’d like!

Maybe the better question @Matt300ZXT is “how do people define talent on guitar and does a nice gear setup equate to that expectation”?

I feel 1000% comfortable saying you’ve earned your gear by my definition of talent

At my skill level today, I couldn't justify the Boogie and the Friedmans so they were sold off.
I built my amps, but Im not an amp builder, but I can follow a schematic, solder and use a meter.

I did pony up for a nice Les Paul because of all those years staring at Alive I

I wish I had more time to woodshed, but not in the cards quite yet.

And today, we are at the time of the season where someone doesn't want to store that vintage auto that I'm willing to take off their hands.
Gotta fill the barn!

Also looking another moto.

And Im in need of a compact tractor with loader and backhoe. Not too compact though.

So I guess I'm not too worried about spending more on gear at the moment.
